The Magazine


The Magazine is part of the expanding reach and market represented by the website and its related marketing efforts. With four years of coverage of High School, College and Club Soccer in the region, May 2008 saw 30% growth in unique visitors over the previous year. Website traffic exceeded 50,000 unique visitors in the 12 month period ending in May.

The Fall 2008 issue will cover the 25th anniversary of the high school game in Springfield. It will include interviews with Jose Florez, original coach of the Kickapoo Chiefs, as well as the College Class of 2009 that happens to include one of Jose’s grandsons, Joshua Florez (Parkview 2005, Washington University 2009).

In addition, Fall Previews of the High School programs in the region as well as the College programs will make the magazine a regular part of every fan’s daily game.

Scheduled for publication three times a year, the Spring 2009 issue will feature Ann Cook on the cover. Ann is a Glendale graduate who has represented the US National team, played in the Women’s United Soccer Association (WUSA) and is now part of the Penn State soccer staff. Previews of the 25 High School Girls programs and 9 college programs in the region will ensure that this magazine will become a regular part of the communities travel kit and gain additional exposure for you over many months to come.

The inaugural issue, in the Summer of 2008, featured Jack Jewsbury, professional soccer player for the KC Wizards of Major League Soccer and a Springfield Kickapoo High School graduate.

In addition, an exclusive interview with Mr. Harry Cooper documents the history of the soccer complex that bears his name.

Combined with a complete listing of all regional Club Tryouts and available Soccer Camps and Clinics, the inaugural issue has become the soccer resource for the community throughout Southwest Missouri.

The inaugural issue of the magazine was available as an electronic download in Adobe Acrobat. Beginning with the Fall 2008 issue, a Print-On-Demand service will be added to the mix, allowing individual and bulk orders of the magazine in four color high quality semigloss with a stapled binding.

Future plans call for a a print run of 5,000 copies. At that time, The magazine will be distributed directly to the 30 High School and 9 college teams that are part of the coverage area and to soccer facilities in the surrounding region.

The magazine will range from 48-64 pages, 4 colors to best represent your organization. It will be a memento, featuring numerous photos from Steve Ole Olson’s archive of over 12,000 shots. Think Sports Illustrated but with local flair!

The coverage area ranges from Camdenton to West Plains, Joplin to Rolla and all points in between. Youth soccer organizations in each of these areas will be provided copies as well.

Traffic to the website is centered on Springfield with approximately 45% of the overall traffic. 80% of the traffic is Missouri-based, as the many visitors who come here for games and tournaments have discovered The Soccer Resource in Southwest Missouri. In turn, they will be exposed to your business as part of the overall promotional effort for the site and the magazine.
