On Senior Day, Drury and Saint Joseph’s battled to a 0-0 draw in the Great Lakes Valley Conference women’s soccer regular season finale at Harrison Stadium on Sunday … but it was enough to get the Panthers into the league’s post-season tournament.

Drury (8-7-2 overall, 6-6-2 in the GLVC) clinched the No. 8 seed in the GLVC post-season tournament and will visit top-seed Northern Kentucky in Highland Heights, Kentucky next Sunday (Oct. 31) in the first round at a time to be announced.

Saint Joseph’s is now 1-13-2 overall and 1-12-1 in the GLVC.

While Drury took time in pre-game ceremonies to honor its six seniors – Jessie Sanderson, Sarah Colvin-Fritz, Meredith Hall, Kelsy Long, Alyssa Allcorn and Mandi Little – it was a particularly frustrating afternoon afterward for the Panthers.

Total domination and nothing but a tie to show for it.

Drury outshot the Pumas 25-4 in the contest, including 7-0 over the two overtime periods, but couldn’t find the back of the net as Saint Joseph’s keeper Sarah Croskrey came up with nine saves.

Sanderson had two saves in posting her 37th career shutout, a DU record.

The Panthers finish the regular season with a non-conference match at Harding in Searcy, Ark., on Tuesday.

Mandi Little got the goal in the first 10 minutes (before I arrived) and both teams had several opportunities that were denied by the wind, Spring touch still developing or solid defense. The Panthers welcomed back Sarah Goodman (pictured above with Jessie Sanderson) who will pair once again with Kelsey Long in the middle of the pitch while the biggest pair of shoes to fill in the Fall will be the sweeper’s position of graduating senior Chloe Moushey. Sophomore Sarah Colvin-Fritz took on the responsibility today and looks like the probably replacement.
