The Camdenton Lady Lakers won their inaugural Invitational Tournament on Saturday by beating Mexico 4-1 in the championship match. Goals were scored by Stephanie Kirvan, Alisha Morice, Sandra Shore and Meg Manzer. The penalty kick that Mexico scored was the only goal Camdenton gave up in the tournament as they also beat Boonville 4-0 in the first round and Barstow 1-0 in the second round.
At the Glenwood (IL) Tournament – In Friday’s game against Morton, IL, the Lebanon Yellowjackets played the first half against a strong wind and were down 2-0 at the half. Lightning and tornado warnings forced the teams into a nearby school, and after about an hour games for the remainder of the day were canceled. A restructured schedule placed the Jackets against the home team Glenwood Titans Saturday morning.. Final score 4-1 for the Titans. The final game was against Glenbrook (IL) North and ended 2-1 in favor of Glenbrook. While at the tournament the Jackets took in some action by Missouri power Nerinx Hall. Going into the tournament without two starters due to illness and conflicts, the jackets lost another starter to injury in the first game. Some freshman and sophomore JV players who had earned a spot on the roster gained some valuable experience in their first out of state tournament.
At the Brine Tournament of Champions – The Waynesville Tigers lost 3 games this weekend to some of the top programs in the region. Their game Friday afternoon was one of only four that was completed before storms wiped out the schedule. They lost to St. Charles North 0-4 in a rain-shortened game. The second game was Saturday against Whitefish Bay (WI), a 0 – 4 loss.
The Glendale Falcons played two games Saturday. They defeated Covenant Day 5-0 and lost to Divine Savior Holy Angels 1-7. According the the Glendale website, DSHA is ranked 20th in the nation on one website.
