The Jay’s respond strongly to the challenge of facing the Zizzer’s again this season, winning their playoff game while getting goals from three players. The Jay’s opened the scoring in the 19th when Kylea Ryser put away a rebound. The Zizzer’s responded with Natasha Ugbah’s goal in the 21st. Marshfield regained the lead two minutes later when Danielle Coffman scored via a penalty kick.

West Plains tied the score again the in the 53rd minute on Ugbah’s goal but the Jay’s earned the win with three goals in the final 19 minutes including two goals from Jennifer McArthur and Coffman’s second.

Wednesday Soccer Report – Lady Goblins Get Past Zizzers

Harrison (AR) Lady Goblins – 3
The Goblins bounce back from the loss at Ozark last night, getting past their friends in West Plains. The Goblins opened the scoring with a goal in the 39th minute by Laura Shirley. A pair of goals in the 2nd half extended the lead to 3 until sophomore Tash Ugbah got behind the defense to score from the left side of the box about 15 seconds before the final whistle.

Camdenton Lakers – 10
Richland Bears – 0
Camdenton sophomore forward Danielle Brooks scored 3 goals coming off the bench while junior Ashley Paschel, sophomore Cassie Hale, and freshman Miriam Taylor each scored two goals. Sophomore Abbey Herfurth scored a goal as well. Junior keeper Sandy Shore earned the shutout.

Little Rock Christian – 1
The Goblins took an early lead midway through the 1st half and gave up the tying goal midway through the second half. Little Rock Christian advances to the Title game via PK’s, winning 5-4.

West Plains Zizzers – 3
Siloam Springs – 0
West Plains took the lead when Tasha Ugbah beat a defender off the dribble and scored unassisted from 15 yards out in the 24th minute. In the 30th minute, Ugbah received a pass in the box from Katie shannon, touched the ball around a defender and scored her 2nd goal of the game. In the 26th minute of the 2nd half, Ugbah crossed a ball into the box for Katie shannon who turned and fired a left footed shot past the keeper from 10 yards out.

Sammi Phegley made 4 Saves to preserve the shutout.

3:30 pm – Harrison vs Siloam Springs (CANCELED – icing in Silioam Springs, team returned home)

Little Rock Christian – 4
Katie Shannon scored from inside the 6 yard box for the Zizzer’s in the 6th minute, from a cross by Tasha Ugbah, to give West Plains an early lead Saturday. Little Rock Christian would apply the pressure however, tying the game in the 10th minute and taking the lead in the 20th. Goals in the 21st and 49th provided the final margin as LRC wins the ReMax Cup.

Timberland Wolves – 1
The home opener for the Kewpies and an early District 9 match up. From The Missourian: Each team remained scoreless in the first half. Sophomore forward Sami Purdy was the first to score after Timberland’s goalkeeper jumped to save the ball but dropped it, and it hit her shoulder, where she kicked it in for a goal.

The Kewpies game against the Nerinx Hall Markers, scheduled for today, has been canceled due to snow.

Thursday Girls High School Soccer Report

A pair of significant results tonight, with Ozark proving last year was no fluke and the Zizzer’s getting an early Ozark Conference win over the Joplin Eagles!

Ozark Tigers – 2 (OT)
Catholic Fightin’ Irish – 1
Scoreless until the second half when first Andrea Parker scored for Catholic, followed by Megan Gunnels goal for Ozark. 90 seconds into OT, Alicia Collard got the golden goal for Ozark. The Tigers website has a story

West Plains Zizzers – 2
Joplin Eagles – 1
The Eagles scored first, and early, when senior Kelsey Sanders put Joplin ahead in the 17th minute. The Zizzers responded via their tricky freshman forward, Tasha Ugbah in the 26th. They called on senior captain Mollie Plocher for the game-winner, which came via a direct kick from 22 yards out in the 57th minute. Wow!

Rolla Bulldogs – 2
The Bulldogs give up their first goals of the season, having shut out their prior 4 opponents, while scoring 2 of their own in their first Ozark Conference game of the season. Abbey Anderson, Ericka Freiert and Amanda dominguez scored for the Chiefs, Megan Melugin had 2 assists. Rolla falls to 1-1 in the Ozark Conference, Kickapoo is now 2-0 in the Conference.
