Thursday Girls High School Soccer Report

A pair of significant results tonight, with Ozark proving last year was no fluke and the Zizzer’s getting an early Ozark Conference win over the Joplin Eagles!

Ozark Tigers – 2 (OT)
Catholic Fightin’ Irish – 1
Scoreless until the second half when first Andrea Parker scored for Catholic, followed by Megan Gunnels goal for Ozark. 90 seconds into OT, Alicia Collard got the golden goal for Ozark. The Tigers website has a story

West Plains Zizzers – 2
Joplin Eagles – 1
The Eagles scored first, and early, when senior Kelsey Sanders put Joplin ahead in the 17th minute. The Zizzers responded via their tricky freshman forward, Tasha Ugbah in the 26th. They called on senior captain Mollie Plocher for the game-winner, which came via a direct kick from 22 yards out in the 57th minute. Wow!

Kickapoo Chiefs – 3
Rolla Bulldogs – 2
The Bulldogs give up their first goals of the season, having shut out their prior 4 opponents, while scoring 2 of their own in their first Ozark Conference game of the season. Abbey Anderson, Ericka Freiert and Amanda dominguez scored for the Chiefs, Megan Melugin had 2 assists. Rolla falls to 1-1 in the Ozark Conference, Kickapoo is now 2-0 in the Conference. Kelsey Loderhose gets the only goal, via Jessica Maerz, as the Vikings get an Ozark Conference win. Caylin Manary earns the shutout

The Tigers fall in OT for the second time this week, this time via the spot. Jays win in PK’s, 3-2

Parkview Vikings – 1
Kickapoo Chiefs vs Parkview VikingsThe Chiefs took the lead in the 46th minute as Mallory Williams buried her shot from inside the 6 yard box in the roof of the net. A penalty kick goal by Jessica Maerz senior Emmy Dale in the 73rd minute tied the game that went to PK’s ultimately.

Rolla Bulldogs – 4
Joplin Eagles – 1
The Bulldogs continued their recent improvement. They took a 3-1 lead into halftime and got a final goal in the second half. Goals were scored by Katelyn Maddy, assist Kim Carter, Ellen Spooner from Ashley Kerr who also assisted on Olivia Cox’s first goal. Cox got a second, unassisted, in the second half. The Bulldogs move to 5-2 in the Ozark Conference and play West Plains tomorrow night (Friday).

West Plains Zizzers – 2
Hillcrest Hornets – 0
Michelle Esterle broke the deadlock in the 43rd minute, scoring from Mollie Plocher’s corner kick. The Zizzer’s extended their lead in the 66th minute when Ashley Martin pounced on a loose ball off a corner kick. It earned the Zizzer’s their first Ozark Conference win this season.

Cape Central – 0
Notre Dame got goals from Robyn Meesey in 14th minute and Michelle Auer, via PK, in 56th minute to earn the hardware.

    3rd Place game

Sikeston – 3
Moberly – 1
Abbi Keefer gave Sikeston an early lead, in the 10th minute, with Jordi Ferrell extending it in the 31st before Moberly got within one again via Shawn Beard. Ferrell scored a second to ensure the win. It was the third year in a row these two teams have played for 3rd place.

    5th Place game

Waynesville Tigers – 4
Valley View – 2
Valley View got an early goal from Shana Broadway in the 5th minute to take the lead. The Tigers Katie Pritchard tied it in the 22nd minute but Valley View regained the lead late in the first half via Casey Bowman’s goal in the 36th minute. Pritchard tied the game again in the 42nd, Tasha Lord got the eventual game winner in the 45th minute and Pritchard had a hat-trick with a final goal in the 60th minute

    7th Place Game

Parkview Vikings – 3
West Plains Zizzers – 1
Jessica Maerz gave the Vikings the lead in the 10th minute, Kelsey Loderhose extended it in the second half before Mollie Plocher got the Zizzer’s close again on a PK. Jessica Maerz sealed it with her PK.

According to Coach Nick Schmitt of the host Lady Zizzer’s, this was the most competitive tournament we have had in the 5 years of play.

Parkview Vikings – 0
The Ozark Conference foes, facing each other for the first time this year, went at it early Saturday. The Tigers got goals from Lauren Kelly, Katie Pritchard and Erica Combs for the shutout win.

Valley View – 4
West Plains Zizzers - 1
Valley View got a pair of goals in each half with West Plains avoiding the shutout on Mollie Plocher’s late goal.

Notre Dame – 2
Sikeston – 0
Don’t have the goal scorers

Cape Central – 3 (2 OT – PKs 2-0)
Moberly – 2
Cape Central got goals by Sarah Umptor and Danielle Markhart, Moberly goal scorers were Andi Wiesner and Shawn Beard who scored on a Direct kick to tie the game. Central won on PK’s, with Haley Pilsner and Laura Lusk scoring. The game saw Moberly’s seven game winning streak come to an end.

Monday Game Reports

West Plains Zizzers – 6
Marshfield Jays – 1
Mollie Plocher got the Zizzer’s started via a direct free kick in the 6th minute. Rachel Skelly, assisted by Ashley Harris, extended the lead in the 14th minute while GK Jamie Brassfield made a nice save to push a Marshfield shot wide early in the half. In the second half, Michelle Esterle scored on a breakaway while Beth Kittle also scored before Ashley Harris got two. The Jays got a late goal from Dannyca Mostrom.

Ozark Tigers – 2
Joplin Eagles – 0
The District opponents faced off in Ozark, with Megan Stodden scoring the first goal in the 59th. She also assisted on Alicia Collard’s goal

Glendale Falcons – 6
Nixa Eagles – 0
The Falcon’s hosted and gained a measure of revenge for last year’s tie game as they continue their strong offensive showing. Goals by Megan Garrad (2), Lorin Opfer, Karis Hefton, Katie Brewer and Emily Cline.

Kickapoo Chiefs – 8
Neosho Wildcats – 0
Goals by Megan Etter (2), Katy McLain, Amanda Dominguez, Mallory Williams, Erica Freiert (2), and Abby Anderson

Friday’s High School Soccer Report

Central Bulldogs – 4 (OT)
Hillcrest Hornets – 3
Central beat Hillcrest in overtime. It was tied three three and went to PK’s at the Neosho tournament.

Rogers (AR) – 2 (OT)
Glendale Falcons – 1
The Falcon’s conceded a goal in the first half on a very nice header. Senior Lou Opfer Sophomore Lindsay Sprouse, picking up where she left off last year, knotted the score late in the second half. Due to the visitors early afternoon game against Kickapoo tomorrow, the game went to PK’s. Rogers converted 3 to the Falcon’s 1 for the decision.

Waynesville Tigers – 3
Washington Jays – 0
Playing on the artificial surface at Waynesville, the Tigers got goals from Katie Pritchard, Erica Combs and senior Captain Lauren Kelly to earn the shutout win over the visitors.

West Plains Zizzers – 7
Mt View Liberty Eagles – 0
The Zizzer’s opened the scoring in the 6th minute by Emma Ray who also scored in the 4th minute of the second half. Rachel Skelly (2), Beth Kittle, Michelle Esterle and Megan Lowe also scored in the shutout. Dani Valade, Mollie Plocher earned assists.

Mountain Views first game ever with a team made up of Freshmen and Sophomores I believe.

Ozark at Willard canceled due to field conditions

Tuesday’s Girls High School Soccer Reports

Parkview Vikings – 2
Nixa Eagles – 0
Freshman Kelsey Loderhose scored both goals in the opener for the Vikings, in an early match up between District opponents. Senior Kristine Malter assisted on one. Nixa’s JV beat PHS 1-0.

Poplar Bluff Mules – 5
West Plains Zizzers – 1
The Zizzer’s took the initial lead, scoring near the end of the first half on a header by Michelle Esterle off a Mollie Plocher Corner Kick. The Mules tied it with less than 1 minute to go in the half and got the game winner in the 14th minute of the second half. They would add 3 more before it was done.

Lebanon Yellowjackets – 4
Neosho Wildcats – 0
Sophomore Stephanie Fore got the game-winner in the 1st half on a header. Hannah Winkel scored a pair in the second half, both assisted by Brianna Ragains. Michelle Lindesmith completed the scoring. Abbey Roam with the shutout.

Meg Manzer, CamdentonJefferson City Jays – 2
Camdenton Lakers – 1
The Lakers finally got a match in last night and fell to District 10 opponent Jefferson City Lady Jays (2-2-0) at home. Camdenton senior Meg Manzer (pictured at left) scored a goal for the Lady Lakers 12 minutes into the first half. The one goal lead lasted until the 8th minute of the second half when Jeff City senior Katie Denning scored a goal from 25 yards out. Denning struck again from about the exact same spot just two minutes and ten seconds later giving the Lady Jays the lead for good.

Waynesville Tigers – 3
Ozark Tigers – 2
Katie Pritchard scored early in the second half to give the hosts the initial lead. Tasha Lord, on an assist from Lauren Kelly, added a second in the 60th. Ozark brought it within one shortly after on a goal by Megan Gunnells Brittany Matthews, assisted by Kristen Glabitz. Erica Combs, assisted by Pritchard, restored the two goal difference. Ozark brought it back to one on Matthews 19 yard shot that was heading right but was deflected off of a Waynesville player into the opposite side of the net. Coach Scott commented on the game

“Tom has his girls playing great already. I think this team will be trouble for its district opponents.”

Bolivar Liberators -1
Hillcrest Hornets – 0
Senior Lindsy Archer scored the game winner in the 70th minute (assist by freshman Jonna Welch). Bolivar outshot Hillcrest 28 – 4. In jv action, the Lady Liberators recorded their first win of the season with a 4-2 victory.
