Cobras Capture Missouri U15 President’s Cup

Cobra SC at Missouri President's Cup tourney

Congratulations to the Cobra’s SC U15 Boys team who went undefeated this weekend, winning 4 games and giving up only a single goal in the process. They accomplished it in a 32 hour period as the tournament format required them to play the games between Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon.

They will be joined by Imo’s Pizza, from South County St Louis, who won the U16 Playoffs this weekend. Imo’s also went undefeated, outscoring their opponents 20-2 during their four games. Not a national championship but a nice addition to the trophies won by the club over many decades.

In addition, Ozark-based Vehr Factor advances unopposed to the U17 Tournament.

On the local front, here are photos of the Total Demize win over Springfield SC in the U15 Division.

Winners of the Missouri President’s Cup will advance to the Regional Presidents Cup tournament, which will be held June 16-19, 2011 in South Bend, Indiana. All Regional winners will then advance to the National Presidents Cup, which will be held July 7 – 10, 2011 at the James W. Crownie Soccer Park in Des Moines, Iowa.

This video is from this afternoon’s match against Metro Striker’s Red Bull. Cobra’s are in blue and hit the woodwork twice in this video, enroute to a win.

Is Your Team Competing In State Cup or the Presidents Cup?

Presidents Cup LogoThe two state-wide competitions have registration deadlines quickly approaching. Last year one Girls team (Missouri Elite FC U14 Girls) competed along with two Boys programs – Springfield SC and Total Demize in State Cup. Will your team compete?

The alternate choice is the President’s Cup which offers a lower tier of competition but the result is still an opportunity to move on to Regional competition and even a National tournament. Due to low registration numbers there have been teams that moved directly to Regional tournaments and therefor fun trips to Midwest tournaments during the summer. If you are looking for a nice opportunity, consider the President’s Cup. The State qualifying will be in Springfield in late May if needed.

MYSA High School Tryout Update

Missouri Youth Soccer Association logoI’ve received several tryout notices recently that I haven’t posted. Here’s why:

For the 2010-2011 season, tryouts actually were opened state-wide on June 15th, 2010. I know that most competitive HS boys tryouts have already taken place. Clubs can have additional tryouts throughout the year as long as they are not violating the MYSA recruiting policies and MSHAA participation policies. Supplemental HS Boys tryouts cannot be held until after the HS boys season ends.

Thanks,

The final day of the High School Boys season is Saturday November 20th when the Finals are held in St Louis. However, apparently once a team finishes MSHSAA play (JV players or teams that are eliminated during District playoffs) the boys may then begin the tryout process.

I am happy to post any and all Tryout notices. Send them to Ole at SGFsoccer.com.
