Weekend Game Reports

Wow, how about this weather eh? Reminds me of the fact that the NCAA Frozen Four is this weekend. And there’s a great side story associated with the most excellent hockey being played in Denver. Remember the movie “Slapstick” “Slapshot”? Then you remember the Hanson Brothers. Well, one of their sons is playing for Notre Dame in the Final. 6:00 pm tonight on ESPN, watch it at Coester’s.

OK, back to this weekends non-Tournament games :)

Waynesville Tigers – 4
Hazelwood Central – 2
Playing against Head Coach Josh Scott’s alma mater, the Tigers defended their home field Friday evening, defeating the BiState Shootout champions (and District 3 defending champions). The Tigers fell behind 1-0 in the second minute but tied on a goal by Tasha Lord before halftime. Katie Pritchard scored twice and Orielle Thomas once in the second half. Crystal Hutchinson recorded 13 saves in the net.

Thursday Game Reports

Class 1 Quarterfinal: Springfield Catholic vs St Dominics (O'Fallon) Update – I got my answer to the question of whether anyone was playing today.

Springfield Catholic – 2
Lebanon Yellowjackets – 0
The Lady Irish traveled to Lebanon to take on the Class 2 District 11 Finalists from last year. Missouri State signee Tara Bailes (pictured in last years Class 1 Quarterfinal loss to St Dominics) got both goals, the first coming in the 10th minute on a nice combination with Anna DeLong. The second came from the penalty spot, also in the first half. The Irish started five freshman tonight, including Rachel Scott in goal. Shots, according to the Yellowjackets, were 5-3 for the Irish but GK Scott was not seriously challenged. A fun game to watch according to Coach Gow, with boths teams moving the ball and offering a nice example of what the ladies will be capable of this year.

Waynesville TigersWaynesville Tigers – 7
Neosho Wildcats – 1
Coach Josh Scott took his senior laden team to Neosho tonight and the Tigers turned on the firepower early. Katie Pritchard had a hat-trick, Erica Combs scored a pair and Lauren Kelly and Shauna Shanna Neely also scored. Tasha Lord had a pair of assists and Lynette Newcomb had 1. The Wildcats goal came from the penalty spot, in the 65th minute.

I’m aware of some games that are canceled due to saturated fields:
West Plains at Nixa
Ozark vs Harrison

Is the Catholic game at Lebanon still on?
