The Eagles beat Fatima 3-0 last year before running into the Fightin’ Irish in the 2009 Quarterfinal. That game finished 2-1 in Catholic’s favor on a pair of first half goals. The Eagles are led by Tillie Bill, last year’s Class 1 Offensive Player of the Year and had 52 goals as of May 19th according to this article that also discussed Goalkeeper Rebekah Dowd’s 14 shutouts and Katie Curtis’ effort in midfield. All three were All-State players in 2009 along with Hannah Schlitz Schiltz. Dowd and Bill are seniors.
Coach Miller was chosen the 2009 Class 1 Public School Coach of the Year for the team’s run to the Quarterfinals when they were the only public school remaining in the Final 8. This year Barstow joins them in this elite list. UPDATE – as pointed out in the comments (and via email) the Barstow Lady Knights are in fact a private school in KC. The SoBoCo Lady Eagles are the unofficial Class 1 Public School champions.
