Eddie Horn Gets Win 400

Eddie Horn, Jeff City Jays, Wins 400th game

With a win against the Camdenton Lakers on October 14th, Head Coach Eddie Horn earned his 400th win as the Head Coach of the Jefferson City Jays. That puts him at the top outside of the St Louis and Kansas City coaches. Not certain why his information isn’t included in the MO Soccer Coaches records list but I’m digging into it. Coaches self submit the info and I have to thank Matt Stacey for the heads up on this one (Matt is Eddie’s assistant on the Boy’s side and Head Coach for the Girls program at Jeff City).

The Jay’s overall Record this season is 12 – 6 – 1 and Eddie won his 401st game when the boys beat Blue Valley Northwest in PK’s during the annual Art Firley Shootout at Jeff City. They play #12 ranked Rock Bridge tonight in a game that probably determines the #1 seed in District 9 with Rock Bridge the favorites. Jeff City moved up to #14 in the most recent polls after losing a pair of close games to CBC and SLUH in St Louis.

Congrats to Coach Horn. That’s him on the far right, back row, looking as young as his players in this shot.

Chris Miller, President of the Missouri HS Soccer Coaches Association Featured

Jefferson City Jays at Kickapoo ChiefsNice article in the Southern Boone County paper featuring Chris Miller, Coach of the Boys and Girls team at the High School. As the paper notes,

But Miller and assistant coach Darlene Moore put together a plan for the Eagles girls soccer team, combined it good athletic talent and a small dose of literature and famous quotes and finished one step away from playing in soccer’s final four.

For his efforts, Miller was named Class 1 Coach of the Year for the second time, being previously honored after the fall 2007 boys season in which his team won the first Eagles district soccer title.

The photo is from May 2007 when Coach Miller brought the Jeff City Jays to Kickapoo for their annual end of season game. Jesse Sanderson, Drury Panther’s All-American goalkeeper, was on that JC Jays squad. And as noted, Chris is the President of the Missouri HS Soccer Coaches Association, the organization that puts together the Regional and All-State teams among other things.
