ManU vs Chelsea For EPL Title Sunday

manu munich 1999I get annoyed with all of the Fan Boys that Manchester United and Chelsea have attracted the past few years, so I’m rooting for a Spanish side to win the Champions League this season. Despite that, I am reminded by how the youngsters were attracted to one of these sides when a 20-something starts reminiscing about the ‘old days’ of the late 90′s. Matthew Mueller is a CBC grad and is establishing his career in soccer working as a Youth Coach and assisting with the US Development Academy programs at Scott Gallagher. Check out his story on ManU – Going Back to 1999

The thing that strikes me most about this Manchester United team is the fact that they have the right balance. You look at every position in the United team and they have the right mix of players to get the job done. I look back to 1999 which was the year that they won the Treble and that team reminds me a lot of this United team. The team this year might even be better?! But we will not know that until they can show that they can get the final results.

Chelsea vs Fulham (Clint Dempsey) Monday at 2pm on ESPN2

Clint Dempsey, Fulham

Clint Dempsey, Fulham

It’s the Champions versus Fulham, a West London derby that should be interesting as Phil Mison, the Fulham correspondent for ESPN notes Belief Will Beat The Blues

Why? At home Fulham’s defence is back to its miserly best. Roy’s fortress has been well and truly restored. The side are going for their 6th straight home win in 2011, with no goal conceded in our last three league home wins. In fact, against WBA, Stoke and Newcastle chances created by the opposition were all but non-existent, while the Cup win over Spurs was a stroll in the park

If your watching the game, take note of our favorite Fulham player. Mark Young from ESPN notes It’s Dempsey Time

Since the 1990s, aspiring young American soccer players have looked to the likes of John Harkes, Claudio Reyna and Brian McBride as their non-goalkeeping role models. Now, it’s Clint Dempsey’s time. And based on his performances with Fulham, it’s time for Bob Bradley to make the fiery Texan the fulcrum around which he builds the U.S. national team.

Chelsea Sponsors 12th Man Contest – Sit On The Bench In Seattle

h1_graphictext2I’m not a Chelsea fan, Zack can vouch for that (Facebook video), but for those of you that are or might otherwise be interested in hanging out with the boys from London when they play the Seattle Sounders on July 18th, then here’s your chance.

You need to create a 12 second video on the 12second website to compete. It’s a site that integrates well with Twitter, I’ve posted a couple of videos so far so fire up the webcam, sign up for an account and have at it!
