Graduation ceremonies Monday and Tuesday for the Springfield teams. Parkview and Central celebrated last night, will that impact their game today?

District 12: at Harrison Stadium in Springfield, Semifinals
#1 Parkview Vikings – 6
#5 Central Bulldogs – 2
Kelsey Loderhose scores five as Parkview advances. Molly Robb also scored for the Vikings so these two seniors were obviously unaffected by last nights post-ceremony celebrations.

#2 Joplin Eagles – 2
#3 Willard Tigers – 0
The Eagles scored both goals off of set pieces this evening. Corner kicks, one in each half. Ashlea Norman and Kelly Stringer were the goal scorers.

Joplin reaches District Final

Final on Thursday, Willard was the defending champion so we’ll see a new Title holder this year.

District 11: at Ozark, Semifinals Wednesday and Final Friday
#1 Glendale vs #4 Ozark Tigers
#2 Kickapoo Chiefs vs #3 Nixa Eagles

District 10: at Camdenton, Final on Thursday
#1 Camdenton Lakers – 7
#4 Lebanon Yellowjackets – 1
Megan Weber, pictured above scoring her 2nd goal for Camdenton, was joined by Miriam Taylor who also had two goals in the win over Lebanon. Camdenton’s goals were scored by Miriam Taylor (2), Ashleigh Paschel, Mackenzie Manzer, Cassie Hale and Megan Weber (2). Abbi Zimmerman scored for Lebanon.

Camdenton, Mo. — The Camdenton Lady Lakers asserted themselves early in a monumental 7-1 hammering of Lebanon that clinched the first 20-win girls’ soccer season in Camdenton High School history.

#2 Rolla Bulldogs – 1
#3 Waynesville Tigers – 3

District 9: at Columbia Hickman, Final on Wednesday
#1 Rock Bridge Bruins vs #2 Jeff City Jays

Rock Bridge Defeats Hickman – Marc VanDover has shown a knack for getting the most out of his Rock Bridge girls soccer team late in the season. Under his leadership, the Bruins have won back-to-back district championships and last season continued their postseason charge all the way to the MSHSAA Class 3 Championship semifinals.

Sectional Games on Tuesday May 24th, the host will be the winners of District 10 and 12.

Ozark Conference Soccer – Glendale Positioned For Title

The race for the Conference Title is quickly coming to a close. With #1 Glendale (5-0-0) hosting #2 Rolla (7-1-0) and #3 Camdenton (6-1-0) hosting #4 Kickapoo (4-2-0), we’ll either see the a couple of teams separating themselves from the pack or a tightening race. I’ll be at Glendale to provide live reports.

Glendale Falcons, Spring 2011

Glendale Falcons, Spring 2011

Camdenton Lakers – 2 (2nd OT)
Kickapoo Chiefs – 1
The Lakers scored first, Cassie Hale from Miriam Taylor but the Chiefs were able to battle back and tie the score in stoppage time tonight. The game-winner came from the penalty spot in the second overtime period, McKenzie Manzer burying the shot after the foul.

Camdenton moves into second in the Conference race at 7-1-0 while Kickapoo falls out of contention to 4-3-0. The Lakers face Joplin Thursday to finish Conference play. Their loss came to Glendale, 2-3 in early April, so they need the Falcon’s to falter in two of their final three games to earn their first Conference title outright.

Glendale Falcons – 5
Rolla Bulldogs – 1
On senior night, senior forward Erica Torgeson got the game-winner in the 21st minute. The Falcon’s went on to score two more late in the 1st half, first from Molly Brewer who broke in on the right side and whose shot went in off the underside of the crossbar before bouncing out. It was good (I was 10 feet away. Senior Emily Cline also scored on a breakaway in the 36th min. Freshman Nicole Howard showed some fine dribbling skills as she took a ball into the box around a pair of defenders before hammering a shot the keeper got to but deflected into the back of the net. Brewer and Cline each scored a second goal on the evening for the final margin.

Rolla finishes 7-2 in the Conference. The Falcons are now 6-0-0 with games against Lebanon, Waynesville and Kickapoo remaining. The Chiefs will look to play spoilers next Wednesday at Cooper.

The Lake Sun-Leader took a look at the Lady Lakers with Season preview: Soccer Lakers bring back deep, talented roster

Camdenton, Mo. —
The Lady Lakers have a wealth of experience and depth on their side this season. Camdenton has five seniors and a junior class that saw heavy game time last season.

All together, Camdenton returns 10 full-time starters and two other varsity players that started matches.

Among several of the key players back are: speedy defender Kali Kuse, junior foward Haley Baker (7 goals, 11 assists), junior goalie Sandra Shore (18 goals allowed) and forwards Cassie Hale (7 goals, 4 assists) and Ashleigh Paschel (14 goals, 9 assists).

The Lady Lakers do have one rather large obstacle to overcome: leading scorer and senior Latea LaRue will miss the season after injuring her knee in the second-to-last game of the basketball season.

The Lady Lakers will try to improve on their 18-win season from a year ago.

The entire story can be found here

Camdenton opens the 2010 season next Monday at Richland.

The home opener is March 25 against Columbia Hickman and is part of the teams Kicking Cancer Fund-Raiser! Help us “White-Out” Cancer by wearing a white shirt or jacket at the varsity match vs. Hickman. Also, on April 20th when we travel to West Plains we are going to wear special cancer aware t-shirts down there as jerseys when we take on our Ozark Conference rival Lady Zizzers.

A special thanks for all of our sponsors who helped us get this fund-raiser off the ground. 50% of our proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society and the other 50% will help the Jaxon Downen family as Jaxon courageously battles leukemia. The Laker’s invite you to visit their sponor’s websites and show your appreciation for those who have helped the soccer team with their generous donations. Anyone interested in contributing to the Lakers and Zizzers efforts is invited to contact Head Coach JD Hunter (jhunter@camdentonschools.org) or Head Coach Nick Schmitt (nschmitt@zizzers.org)

Logan-Rogersville Wildcats at Carthage Tigers, Inaugural Game For Both Teams
Logan-Rogersville Wildcats – 2 (2nd OT)
Carthage Tigers – 1
The Wildcats earned their first win in their first game Monday on a set piece midway through the second overtime period. It was scored by junior Najee Donson (otherwise known as babbiboo32), on a shot just inside the 6-yard box, after a fine cross by #15(?). That’s Najee (#32) celebrating with teammates immediately after scoring the golden goal.

It was a grey, windy afternoon and much of the play was isolated to the downwind side of the field as both teams worked to create offensive opportunities. Carthage got their goal from senior Patricia Marin (#1) midway through the second half when she scored on a direct kick from just outside the box. Logan-Rogersville got their goal from freshman Kadi Leonardi (#16) soon afterwards, leading to the overtime period. Goalies were Phylicia Lewis for Carthage and Kelsay Leingang for Logan-Rogersville.

I have to offer a shout out to the Lady Tigers. With 31 players on the overall roster, the team bench was standing and cheering every play through out the game. I thought I was at a Jonas Brothers concert given the volume and amount of cheering that occurred. That same enthusiasm is spilling over to their new website (add it to your list of links) where they already have 17 positive comments. Well done ladies!
