The Jay’s wasted no time getting on the board this evening when Maddie Esther’s run to the endline led to a square ball to M Kirkman on the edge of the box. She found Sara Cook near the penalty spot and one touch later it’s in the back of the net.

It seemed Greenwood might run away with the game when in the 12th Caroline Jansen headed in a corner kick. Until, that is, the Hornet’s woke up.

Following a series of runs into the offensive end, Greenwood was called for a foul outside the box. Sr Emily Murray stepped up and buried the direct kick and shortly after Coach Shull pulled Esther back to provide defensive cover.

Greenwood found their mojo again later in the half, after Esther made a 50 yard run thru the defense before hammering her shot off the upright. The next time down, a simple pass back to the top of the box and Vook redirected the ball to the far post for a 3-1 halftime lead,

Cook got her hattrick in the 52nd after the Jays got their possession game on track and she was the final beneficiary following a series of quick passes. Jensen completed the scoring with about 10 min remaining.

It was 7-0 at halftime and the game ended in the 43rd min

The Final will be played at Catholic HS BUT will begin at 4:00 pm on Wednesday to avoid the anticipated rain. If rain moves in sooner during the day, anticipate a move to Harrison Stadium.
