Parkview Vikings – 1
Carthage Tigers – 4
The District 12 defending champions opened their season at Parkview tonight with a win. The Vikings took the initial lead on Brian Otradovec’s goal only to see the Tiger’s tie it before the end of the first half. Carthage iced the win with a pair of goals in the final 5 minutes for the final margin. A Class 3 Coach who was watching the game noted that Viking’s keeper Evan Barber played extremely well in keeping Parkview close tonight.

For Parkview Vikings fans, the website issue is being worked on. We hope to have it back up shortly.

Branson Pirates – 4
Logan Rogersville Wildcats – 3
The Pirates opened the 2010 season with a win against COC small school rival Logan Rogersville. Scoring four goals the Pirates worked the ball well and created several other scoring opportunities. The scoring was lead by senior Fernando Cedeno who scored twice and had an assist, Kyle Hoeck and Gabe Kovacs added the other two goals and Carlos Mena had two assists. Brenden Williams scored twice for Logan-Rogersville and Brook Frazier also scored.

College Heights Crusaders – 1
Webb City Cardinals – 3
The Cardinals, newly promoted to Class 3, opened against cross-town small school rival College Heights, returning to Boys soccer after two years without a team.

College Heights JV fell to Webb City JV by 3-0 score.

Camdenton Lakers – 2
West Plains Zizzers – 0
In an early season match up in the Ozark Conference, the Laker’s continue their unbeaten streak from 2009 with the shutout win over the Zizzers. West Plains kept the game close in the first half which finished 0-0 but gave up a brace in the second half. The game also is the first Class 3 District 10 game for the Zizzer’s who move back up after four years of play in Class 2.

Greenwood Blue Jays – 3
New Covenant Warriors – 0

The Greenwood JV also got a shutout, winning 5-0

Hillcrest Hornets – 0
Waynesville Tigers – 7
The Tigers, faced with replacing 9 starters from last years District semifinalists, opened with a display of offense that could bode well in their effort to compete in District 10 this year. Seniors Gehrig Haberstock and Kevin Johnson will lead a team that will challenge teams to run with them and appear to have the scoring capabilities that could separate them from the pack.

The Hornets, winless in 2009, look to rebound from that season with a team that looks athletic and has a good complement of skills. With a new Coach it may take some time for the team to gell but as noted by a knowledgeable observer, they were prepared from the opening kickoff tonight.

9/18 Southwest Missouri High School Soccer Report – Fear the ‘Poo

Logan-Rogersville Wildcats vs Webb City Cardinals - 1st Win
The Logan-Rogersville Wildcats team, 2008 September 18th, after the programs 1st ever win

Rogersville Wildcats – 1 (1st OT)
Webb City Cardinals – 0
In a tightly fought match that both teams will have a hard time forgetting, it was the Wildcats who came out on top this evening, earning the programs first ever win. The goal started in the midfield, with #21 Nathan Davis winning a 50/50 ball and then finding #5, Wes Bird, on the left side. His run down the wing and cross into the box found #14 Brenden Williams unmarked at the far side. Williams confidently nodded the ball into the net past the keeper and the Wildcats had earned their first win in the 88th minute of their 5th game.

For the Cardinals, the team will rue the opportunities lost in regulation as they missed on one breakaway and several corner kicks with balls that went through the six yard box untouched. The best opportunity came late in regulation but #31 for the Wildcats stayed on the post and blocked the shot. Chalk up a Central Ozark Conference win for the Wildcats in soccer this year.

Kickapoo Chiefs – 2 (PK’s)
Chaminade Red Devils – 1
The Chief’s took the lead in the first half on a goal by Ian Kennedy assisted by Skyler Russell, before the Red Knights were able to tie it on a goal by Tony Auck in the second half. Overtime was scoreless, leading to PK’s which the Chief’s won. Skyler Russell takes the last pk and makes it for the win.

The Red Devils are 5th in the current St Louis rankings and have lost to Ft Zumwalt West (Kickapoo defeated them in the Quarterfinals last year) while going 1-2 at the Great Midwest Classic last weekend. They face #1 CBC on Saturday in their first MCC game of the season.

Bolivar Liberators vs Hillcrest HornetsBolivar Liberators – 4
Hillcrest Hornets – 2
The Liberators got the game winner midway through the second half, to earn the hard fought win at Cooper #3

New Covenant Warriors – 1
Marshfield Blue Jays – 0
Dylan Fieker scored the only game of the match to give NCA their 6th win in 7 games.

Neosho Wildcats – 2
Nixa Eagles – 1

Camdenton Lakers – 3
Waynesville Tigers – 2
The Tiger’s scored on a pair of PK’s but it was a trio of Laker’s that got the win in this key District 10 match. Drew Whitney and Jeff Moffitt got goals in the first half and Nate Buttrum got the game-winner in the second half, on his first goal of the season.

Willard Tigers – 1
Monett Cubs – 0
The winning goal came from Willard’s Jackson Patillo (#10) 7 minutes into the second half. Jackson’s free kick from just outside the box found the upper right corner of the goal.
