Zack Hay (Kickapoo 2008, pictured in white against Indy earlier this season) broke the scoreless tie in a tightly-contested game when he got to a rebound and put a shot past UMSL goalkeeper Mike Bober with 7:48 to play. The Miner defense finished off the win by preserving Pat McNamee’s fifth shutout of the season. The win moves the Miners to 6-4-2 overall and 4-1-2 in GLVC play; they moved into a virtual tie for fourth place with Drury in the league standings with five games remaining, three of which are against teams among the top five in the conference.

The Triton’s got goals from Maggie Gabris in the 51st and in the 81st minute by Anne Weaver to get past the Miners. UMSL moves to 4-1-1 in the GLVC, 4-5-1 overall while the Miners drop to 5-5-1, 2-4-1 in the GLVC.

Junior Mandi Little finished off a shot off the post , from Aly Reynolds shot, at the 49:40 mark for the game’s only goal as the Panthers improved to 6-4-2 overall and 5-1-1 in the GLVC.

Rockhurst’s Tom Heinmann accounted for his third goal of the match – and second for the Hawks – when he drilled a long shot with 55 seconds left in overtime to lift No. 18 Rockhurst to a 2-1 victory over No. 7 Drury in a matchup of Great Lakes Valley Conference leaders here on Sunday. The Panthers, who fell to 8-3 with their third straight loss after beating the nation’s then-No. 1 ranked team, Northern Kentucky, on Sept. 26, outshot the Hawks 20-16 in the contest, including 20-12 in regulation.
