NCAA Division 2 program that competes in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA), a 15-member conference (beginning in 2012-13) of NCAA Division II institutions in Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Nebraska. The Conference was first organized in 1912 as the Missouri Intercollegiate Athletic Association.
The Southwest Baptist women’s soccer team has been picked to finish eight in the 2012 MIAA preseason coaches poll, the league announced today.
The Bearcats lost 0-1 to the Missouri Southern Lions in the first round of the MIAA Conference playoffs. The Bearcat’s complete the season with a 4-12-2 record with wins over Missouri Southern State University, Fort Hays State University, Missouri Western, and Northwest Missouri State University. Kelly Isaac lead the Bearcats this season with 6 of our 12 goals. Megan Link accumulated 112 saves this year for the Bearcats before getting injured against Northwest Missouri States University.
Central Missouri was the unanimous choice to defend its title, garnering 12 of the 13 first-place votes (coaches can not vote for their own teams). Preseason national No. 16 Central Oklahoma was picked to finish second, while Truman picked up the other first-place vote and comes in at third. Northwest Missouri was fourth, while Southern, Northeastern State, Fort Hays, Southwest Baptist, Nebraska-Kearney and Lindenwood finish out the top ten. Emporia State, Washburn and Missouri Western round out the poll.
