From Midwest Select – Winter Futsal League!
Teams in the U12-U14 range are invited to sign up for the 2011 winter indoor session of the Midwest Select Youth Soccer League in Joplin, MO. Coed teams are welcome, and other age brackets are possible if there is sufficient interest. Teams will play five-a-side futsal (four court players and one goal keeper) with a roster limit of ten. Game play will follow FIFA futsal rules with local modifications.

League play will begin January 22 and run through February 26. The fee is $298 for a team of 6; additional players, up to the roster limit of 10, are only $10 per player. An initial deposit of $195 is due by January 5, with the balance due by January 22. Games will be played at the brand new Carl Junction Community Center.

Click on the League tab at www.midwestselectsoccer.org for downloadable League rules and more information. Whether you have an independent team, or a club/school team, we would like to hear from you!

Thanks!!

The 2010 Spring Youth Soccer Registration will be held Tuesday (March 9) from 3:00 to 6:30 p.m. at Marshfield City Hall (798 S. Marshall St.). If you would like a registration form to speed up the registration process, please respond to this e-mail with a request noting this.

If you are interested in registering, please read the entire contents of this posting – it may answer the questions you may have. If you need more information, a contact number is located at the bottom. You may also e-mail dbamarsh@marshfieldmo.gov.

If you cannot attend Tuesday’s registration, we will accept registrations from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays, starting on Wednesday. However, we strongly encourage you to attend on Tuesday – this will help us in faster preparation of teams. Our late fee will start on Wednesday, March 17.

Please note that this is a RECREATIONAL league – no experience necessary!

COSTS & REGISTRATION PROCEDURE: Cost is $30.00 per child ($35.00 if you live outside the city limits); unfortunately, we do not offer multi-child discounts. A team shirt is included with your registration. The only other items your child will need to participate are shin guards (available locally at The Sports Shop and Wal-Mart), a soccer ball, and a good pair of running shoes (soccer cleats may also be worn). We do NOT require children to have a physical before participating; you do not need to bring your child to the registration, and we do not require a birth certificate.

LEAGUE INFORMATION: Children ages 2-15 (must be born on July 1, 1995 or later) are welcome to participate. We welcome ALL area children.

GAMES & PRACTICES: We will play a six week, seven game season, with play starting on April 10. Games are held on Saturday mornings at Rotary Park (next to City Hall); practices are held one time per team per week (5:30 p.m. or later on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday of Friday; coaches determine practice days and times).

Coaches are always needed! If you decide to coach, your child will be placed on your team.

AGE GROUPS: A child may move up to the next league if he/she is within one year of that age group. Children cannot be moved down to a younger age group. Siblings will be placed on the same team if they play in the same league.

Age groups are as follows:
· League 1: Born July 1, 2004, and later.
· League 2: Born between July 1, 2002, and June 30, 2004.
· League 3: Born between July 1, 1999, and June 30, 2002.
· League 4: Born between July 1, 1995, and June 30, 1999.

If you need additional information, you may e-mail dbamarsh@marshfieldmo.gov, or call 417/468-5111, Ext. 289.

We hope to see you at the fields this spring!
There is also a special offer for registered tournament teams that gets them discounts at Incredible Pizza, a pretty good idea I’d say.

I plan on attending several games during the weekend. If you have a team that is participating in the tournament, contact me and let me know more about your team and their schedule. I can’t cover a game I don’t know about!

Over the weekend of September 12-13 in Bentonville, Arkansas the Springfield Soccer Club sent six teams to the Clorox Cup hosted by the Northwest Arkansas Lightning Soccer Club. Held at Sugar Creek Park and Memorial Park the tournament annually brings in competition from Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Tennessee, and Arkansas.

While it is still early in the 2009-10 season the results on the field speak for themselves. The SSC 99/00 Boys captured the U10 Boys Division in convincing fashion by winning the Final 5-1 over Ft. Smith Express from Arkansas. Not to be outdone by their younger counterparts the SSC 96/97 II Boys brought home the U13 Boys Silver Division Championship in their first tournament as a team.

Perhaps the most dramatic Championship brought home over the weekend was the Under 14 Girls. The SSC 95/96 II Girls played NWAL Black in the Final and quickly found themselves down 3-0. After finding a goal right before the conclusion of the first half, they found two more goals against the host club to finish the game 3-3 at the end of regulation. Keeping the momentum on their side the girls quickly found the game winner only two minutes into the golden goal overtime period for a remarkable 4-3 victory. “It was an exciting game, full of ups and downs for the team. We had a good weekend of play and showed our depth as we had many players contribute when it was their time to step up. I couldn’t be prouder of the effort they showed today in the Final.” said Bryan Murray Head Coach.
