My timing was good as the Bears scored early and often in today’s match, winning their fourth game in a row by a score of 6-0 while taking their record to 4-3 on the season.

The Bears have a nationally-ranked goalkeeper in the nets and this week’s offensive player in Stephanie Wehrman, who scored four of the five goals the Bears got in their two wins last weekend.

It was an eye-opener, taking in a full match for the first time in 20 years (when last I lived in St. Louis) and seeing the aggressive nature of the play and ball movement at this level. It was also depressing to see just how poorly Missouri State can represent the teams that play under their banner. If we think our soccer teams are limited, check out the Field Hockey page. The women even play in the Mid-American Conference which is where I got most of my information.

For any new visitors, click on the photo above and it will take you to a complete set of photos from today’s match (48 of them) that are available for free download (see the “How To” page).

Oh, and the women’s soccer team lost to Tulsa today, 1-0.. I guess the it’s too much to expect for a Division I program to get the schedule correct on their website. Or for anyone on the team or staff to read my site and correct the incorrect information I disseminated after Friday’s game. Update - apology accepted Coach. Yes, it was a good game although you know how I feel about a good futbol match.
