Missouri State vs SIUE – Legacy Match

LivingOURLegacy Cannon LargeThe Missouri State men’s soccer team has joined forces with the MSU Reserve Officer Training Corps program to stage the Living Our Legacy game. This year, the marquee game is set for SATURDAY, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m., when the Bears host MVC opponent SIU Edwardsville in their regular-season finale at Plaster Field.

In four previous Living Our Legacy matches, the Bears hold a 2-1-1 record. It is also no coincidence that the wins have corresponded with three of the top four all-time attendance figures in MSU history. The past three Living Our Legacy games have averaged 1,973 fans, while last season’s event produced the largest crowd in program history (2,395).

The Nov. 9 match with SIU Edwardsville will also serve as senior night for MSU standouts Cole Alexander, Matt Bray, Jarred Clark, Jared Gain, Callen Roselieb, and Trevor Spangenberg.

Missouri High School Soccer Coaches Poll #4

Adam Michel, Vianney
Adam Michel, Vianney moves upfield

The Missouri High School Soccer Coaches Association (MSHSSCA) have released their fourth regular season poll of the season. It’s the final regular season poll with one remaining post-season.

Class 3 – Vianney moves into the top spot, after opening the season in the #2 spot before falling to #4. They decisively beat #2 Chaminade last week but the poll shows three teams at the top who could likely come out on top. The Golden Griffens are led by senior Adam Michel, shown above.

The only problem will be that only one MCC team will advance to the Final 4 this year as they all share a Quarterfinal spot. Rock Bridge got past Jefferson City 1-0 within the last week. They’ll have to do it again in the Sectional like they did last year.

Class 2 – St Dominic and Rolla are getting the majority of the attention at Class 2, no change in the Top 5.

Class 1 – It’s a three team race according to the Coaches as Southern Boone County (SoBoCo) maintains their #1 but John Burroughs and Springfield Catholic have narrowed the gap points-wise. Continue reading “Missouri High School Soccer Coaches Poll #4”

Missouri Class 3 District Soccer Playoffs Almost Set

Photo via

Tonight’s match at Nixa will determine the second seed in District 11 as Branson fell in overtime to Glendale on Tuesday. Tonights result, while it will help set the seeding, sets the table for a rematch between these two teams in the opening (semifinal) rounds of Districts as #4 Ozark will face #1 Glendale.

Looking at Ozark’s schedule, I see that of the 23 games scheduled 14 were against small schools including four Class 1 programs which did not include Springfield Catholic. One win, against Parkview in early September, has come against a Class 3 team. They’ll have two more chances next week against Waynesville and Central. They’ll need strong showings if they hope to get past Glendale.

In District 12, Kickapoo lost to Joplin October 8th following a tough Gateway Classic tournament. They’ll face Class 2 powers Rolla tonight and Carthage next week to wrap up the regular season while Joplin visits Nixa and Rolla. The games will set up the District games but more importantly, determine the Ozark Conference title. Joplin leads the Ozark Conference with a 8-0 record. Rolla will need to get past Kickapoo TONIGHT to have a chance for a share of the title when Joplin visits next week. Continue reading “Missouri Class 3 District Soccer Playoffs Almost Set”

417FC U14’s Win at Columbia Pride Invitational

The 417FC U14 boys won the COLUMBIA PRIDE INVITATIONAL during the weekend of October 4-6, 2013. They played five games in two days and beat out six other teams for the win. They recorded a shut-out in quarters, semis and the final in Sunday’s games. With one tie and the rest wins the 417FC U14 boys couldn’t have made our club more proud.

This team also captured the League Championship over this past weekend for the fall U14 Boys session at Lake County Soccer in Springfield. With a record of 8-0 and 24 goals for and only 8 goals against, the team averaged scoring 3 goals in every game while only allowing 1 against. The boys look forward to this weekend’s Incredible Pizza Tournament at LCS and preparing themselves for State Cup in June. Well Done Boys!!!

The team is led by Coach Toby Powley, Coach Jason LoRusso and Coach Aaron Harrison.

Missouri High School Soccer Coaches Poll #3

The Missouri High School Soccer Coaches Association (MSHSSCA) have released their third regular season poll of the season. Class 3 sees the biggest changes.

Class 3 – Chaminade moves into the top spot in this poll after their two wins over Rock Bridge, in the CYC Tournament and the following week in the Gateway Classic. Vianney slips ahead of CBC and Marquette makes it 4 STL teams in the top 5. Jeff City plays at CBC tonight and will play Chaminade when they host their tournament next week. We’ll have plenty of good head-to-head action on which to base the next poll.

Class 2 – St Dominic and Rolla are getting the majority of the attention at Class 2. Having seen both teams now… I’ll dig into the District line ups in the coming two weeks so we can anticipate how things might play out. Carthage will be on hand this week for the Kickapoo Shootout, get out and support!

Class 1 – It’s a three team race according to the Coaches as Southern Boone County (SoBoCo) maintains their #1 but John Burroughs and Springfield Catholic have narrowed the gap points-wise.
