A shout out to Head Coach Jeff Rogers of the Glendale Falcons who earned his 400th Boys soccer win this evening. The 3-1 win over the Branson Pirates came in the first round of Districts. It is also his 1000th game at Glendale, where he now has a record of 695-241-64 (400-130-30 with the boys, 295-111-34 with the girls). The Falcon’s advance to play Nixa for the District 11 title on Thursday.

A look back on this website at Jeff’s record shows that he earned his 500th career win at the start of the 2007 Boys season against Waynesville, his 600th win midway through the Girls season in 2010 and his 700th should come before your taxes are due next April.

I’ve collected a few photos from those games for this story, including one from the Falcon’s first alumni game in 2010. You can see the gallery below. Additions are welcome, send them to Ole at SGFsoccer.com.

I got my start documenting the beautiful game at Glendale during the Boys season from 2002-2006 as my nephews played for Coach Rogers (thanks Bob!). I’ll leave it to former Coach Huntley at Carthage to put into words the thoughts of many of Jeff’s alumni and their parents. This is his comment from the 500th win story…

Congratulations, Jeff. As a coach at Carthage for 11 years, I always paid attention to your coaching. I never really had a mentor, so I watched you and your team – usually while you were handing me a loss, and tried to learn. You acted in the same gracious manner towards my kids and me whether you won (20 some times), or whether you lost (1 time). And after that one loss, though we had been out-shot and outplayed, I apologetically said, “Hey, Jeff, we were lucky tonight.” And you said, “No way. Your kids played great. You deserved to win.” I’ll never forget it. You are a class act. Good luck the rest of the way.
