Ozark Conference Soccer: Joplin At Kickapoo Tonight!

October 2, 2012 by Ole

Mac-Hoogeveen-Kickapoo-Chiefs-soccer-clearsThe 2012 Ozark Conference title will likely be decided Tuesday when Joplin visits Kickapoo. The two teams are undefeated in the Conference and if they needed additional incentive, the game will also establish the top seed for the Class 3 District 12 tournament.

Joplin has a high-powered offense that will meet a strong, physical challenge in the Chiefs defense, led in the back by Turner Adams and Mac Hoogeveen (pictured) and several goalkeepers already. Did I mention Aaron Strunk’s work between the pipes Saturday? Kickapoo’s greatest advantage in the region however is the breadth of scoring options, led by Hunter Durham up top who had a hat-trick against SLUH on Saturday.

While Rolla comes into this weeks action undefeated in Conference, they face their strongest challenges in Conference in the second half of the season, including Waynesville’s visit Thursday. They’ll host Kickapoo October 18th and visit Joplin October 23rd.

Glendale had a quiet but effective weekend in St Louis, going 2-1 (as did Catholic & Kickapoo). With 1 goal wins over Granite City and Carthage, the Falcon’s haven’t reached the point where you can ignore them. They’ll have their chance to stamp their imprint on the Ozark Conference race tomorrow (Wednesday) when they visit Kickapoo

Joplin defeats Kickapoo on a golden goal by Joe Rice in the 2nd OT period
Glendale defeated Lebanon 10-0
Rolla defeated Hillcrest 7-0

School: OC/Overall Record
Joplin: 7-0-0/11-1-1
Kickapoo: 4-1-0/9-2
Rolla: 4-0-0/
Glendale: 3-1-0/6-4-0
UPDATED to reflect Tuesday’s results listed above

Rolla’s game at Joplin the final week of the season now becomes the lone hurdle to Joplin becoming Ozark Conference Champions.

As always, thanks to Coach Schmitt at West Plains for maintaining the Ozark Conference Standings. Who’s going to step up and maintain a Central Ozark Conference Standings?
