Ozarks O-Zone Increases The Ante

Have you checked out the O-Zone yet? After offering soccer coverage for 7 years in the Ozarks, it’s nice to see the local media finally stepping up their coverage of the beautiful game as well. A check of the Men’s Soccer Page on the O-Zone website shows recent game reports, including photos, from Nixa-Greenwood, Central-Greenwood and Ozark-Parkview.

Video in the last week includes Willard-Waynesville, the Greenwood-Central match and of course Kickapoo-Camdenton. I count seven games covered last week, beginning with the games at Kickapoo and Catholic on Tuesday.

While my work is not done in terms of growing the game of soccer in the Ozarks, I think it’s safe to say that it is in better hands now. The O-Zone organization is headed up by Mike Scott and includes a staff of 11. Unlike other media outlets in town, there is a high level of sharing which includes several links back to this site based upon the working relationship Mike and I established soon after he joined KSPR in 2007.

Mike is a native of Willard, now a resident of Republic, and I think his staff’s efforts will offer the soccer community a reliable media source for coverage finally. Check out the site, you can also follow them on Twitter and Facebook.

The link on my website on the top right will take you to the O-Zone Soccer page directly in the future and you can find information on submitting scores and game reports via the Submit link (in the top navigation bar on their site). Submit your team schedule so it can be included in the ticker at the top of the page and to ensure that the staff is aware of your upcoming games. Let’s take advantage of this opportunity folks!

I will continue to cover High School soccer but I anticipate a greater emphasis on Club, College and the game outside the Ozarks now. I see Ozarks O-Zone as complementing my efforts to grow the game. Check out this interview with Mike and tell us what you think!
