The U.S. Women’s National Team swept the group stage of the 2012 London Olympics with a 1-0 victory against Korea DPR on Tuesday.
Abby Wambach scored a goal for a third straight Olympic match and the USA took first place in Group G with a convincing win in front of 29,522 at Old Trafford, home of the Premier League’s Manchester United. The U.S. needed only a draw or better to assure itself a first-place finish in group play.
The Quarterfinal game will be played on Friday against the wildcard team from New Zealand, live at 8:30 am. All four of the Quarterfinal games will be broadcast on NBC Sports as well as streamed live.
There is also post-Olympic Games news. The match, which kicks off at 2:30 p.m. ET, will be broadcast live on NBC. The U.S.-Costa Rica matchup takes place in the hometown of star striker Abby Wambach, the second-leading scorer in the women’s game with 140 career international goals.
