Sporting KC (7-6-9) climbed over .500 for the first time since March with a 2-0 win over Real Salt Lake (9-5-6) at Sporting Livestrong Park Wednesday night.
Roger Espinoza scored his first goal of the year and Teal Bunbury scored his second goal this week. The Sporting defense also came up big, recording the team’s first shutout since June 22 against Philadelphia despite playing a man down for much of the second half after Espinoza was ejected.
With the win, KC extended its franchise-best unbeaten streak to 14 matches and remained undefeated at home in MLS play. They are now tied for third place in Eastern Conference.
They continue their nine-match homestand against Seattle at 7:30 on Saturday.
