The early report indicates that all of the Boys teams won today. The girls lost their game to the defending State Champions, a difficult introduction to State Cup play. Story and photos below.

On the Boy’s side, 13′s open with a 2-1 win, 14′s and 15′s idle, 16′s win 3-0, 17′s 2-0 and 18′s 3-1.

Total Demize
Looks like losses for U19 and U16 boys. The 16′s lost 0-8 and face the defending State Champions tomorrow while the 19′s lost 0-4.

Central Missouri
MidMissouri Unite 13girls open their State Cup careers with a win over Lou Fusz. The Carrera 16 girls lost. On the Boy’s side, the Pride 17′s lost 0-1 to Gallagher and face off against Springfield Total Demize Sunday.

SPRINGFIELD S.C. 95/96 – 0
Futura, two-time defending State Champions, opened with gusto against a Springfield SC squad playing in their first ever State Cup game. The pace and pressure they applied kept SSC on their heels for the first 15 minutes and almost led to a goal, only to see the upright deny them in the 12th minute. Futura finally broke through in the 21st on a direct kick from 30+ yards out. Defender Jessica Hartzler took the kick, lined up more than 25 yards out and even with the left side of the box. Her shot was a laser to the back corner of the net and gave the Champs a lead they wouldn’t give up.

Neither keeper was significantly tested today outside of a few key opportunities. Futura scored their second goal midway through the second half when they won a ball deep in SSC’s end, moved it down the left side quickly and finished the cross at the far post. For SSC, still working to sort out their roles today, the second half should offer positive memories. The first adjustment was their attitude, which led to greater success at winning 50/50 balls and creating opportunities. Caught offsides too many times, they were often their own worst enemy but two good chances in the final 5 minutes points to a side that can and should continue to grow. No quit, the knowledge that they went toe-to-toe with the best could lead to a change in fortune in the next three years. It’s the path taken by the two-time champion Boys squad (90/91) and the tools are there.

The next game will be Monday against MID RIVERS UNITED-PEPPLER who will face Futura Sunday in the three team group.

The defending Champion JB Marine Wipke squad won 4-0 over Futura FC today.

The defending Champions start strong. Their next game is Monday against J B MARINE DEVEREUX who played to a scoreless draw against JB MARINE BOZESKY. Molly Brewer (Glendale) came on as the first sub for the squad today in the win.
