#3 Willard Tigers – 1
#6 Neosho Wildcats – 0
In a very close game between a pair of teams that went to Penalty Kicks earlier in the week after a scoreless tie, Willard got an early goal from sophomore Macie Cotter that gave them a lead they refused to give up today. The goal was scored in the 10th minute when Cotter beat the goalkeeper to a ball that came in from the right side. A second step and quick shot as the keeper and defender closed finished in the back of the net from a severe angle, likely deflecting in off of the defender.

Willard had several additional opportunities but goalkeeper Erica Morris Halie Diane Long made a couple of key saves in the second half that kept her hard-working teammates close. Neosho had several corner kicks late, and a couple of breakaways fueled by the pace of freshman forward Kimberly Parker that opened up space for Reba Potts and Brittany Copeland (a Southwest Bearcat signee) but they were unable to get the game-tying goal. Willard’s Brittany Dunn kept the clean sheet with her diving save of Katherine Besser’s shot in stoppage time.
