From the St. Louis University website – The Saint Louis University department of athletics announced today that 11 individuals, the Luechtefeld family and the 1999-2000 men’s basketball team will be inducted into the Billiken Hall of Fame Feb. 18, 2011, in a ceremony held at the Busch Student Center on the SLU campus. A reception will begin that evening at 5:30 p.m., with dinner at 6:30 p.m., and the induction ceremony immediately following. The group will also be introduced at halftime of the Billiken men’s basketball game Feb. 19 against Charlotte at Chaifetz Arena.
Jack Jewsbury (Men’s Soccer, 1999-2002) – Jewsbury was a two-time All-American, an Academic All-American and the Conference USA Player of the Year in 2000. He finished his career tied for 10th place on SLU’s scoring list with 101 points on 38 goals and 25 assists. Jewsbury helped the team qualify for the NCAA Tournament all four years, including an appearance in the quarterfinal round in 2001. A member of the Billiken All-Half Century team, he has been a standout for the MLS Kansas City Wizards and has been called to the U.S. National Team camp.
