UPDATE – The Classic has been canceled due to thunderstorms. Just heard the rumble of thunder on Commercial Street as well. Unfortunate, Schmitt had some really nice match ups this year, a quality group of teams.

The Classic was interrupted Friday by lightning with only one game being completed, with the Waynesville Tigers defeating the Mt View Liberty Eagles. Game times were adjusted for Saturday in hopes of completing all the games while there is still a chance of intermittent storms.

The tournament was canceled Saturday morning when the early games were interrupted by lightning and weather radar didn’t offer much hope. There were a couple of games that were played later in the day although none reached full time. Coach Schmitt offered a wrap up on the Zizzer soccer website.
