From the WFIE TV 14 website in Evansville comes news of a new recruit for the Drury Panthers
WARRICK CO., IN (WFIE) – This past season, Castle senior soccer standout Jesse Williams led the Knights in scoring, was team captain, and was named the Knights most valuable player. Wednesday afternoon, Jesse signed a national letter of intent to play college soccer at Drury University in Springfield, Missouri.
“Well it was very easy, I was very interested in their education program and that was an easy choice for me because that’s what I want to pursue is secondary education,” Williams said. “Also, the coach was very nice to me, he wanted me to play there and he just made me an easy deal and I was hooked.”
“He was just an extension of our coaching staff,” Castle Coach Doug Diedrich said. “You know, you can’t be everywhere at one time and Jesse was just a leader on the field and off the field. When we weren’t around, we felt comfortable our goals were going to be met and attained and he was the person who followed through on those things.”
Jesse also played for the U-18 FC Evansville who were Indiana State Cup Champions in 2009.
One of Jesse’s club teammates, Tyler Vieth, has signed to play for Missouri State. The boys were coached by former Drury Panther’s head coach Marshall Ray at FC Evansville during their run to the Region II Tournament.
