Lees Summit North, 17-6-1, moves on to face Park Hill in the Class 3 Western quarterfinals Saturday night at 6 p.m. at the North Kansas City School District Activities Complex at Staley High. In the meantime, for the first time in 13 seasons, Rockhurst will not make the trip to the state championship round in St. Louis
In the other sectional match, Park Hill freshman Neal Sampson scored the first goal and later, the Trojans got more offense from an unlikely source during their 2-0 win over Winnetonka. Park Hill junior defender Samuel Shepherd had not scored a goal all season — his role was to contain the Winnetonka scoring threats — but he rippled the net in the second half during the Trojans’ shutout.
While in St Louis, the Post-Dispatch reports that CBC (23-4-3) advances to play Metro Catholic Conference rival Vianney (19-3-3) in the 1 p.m. quarterfinal Saturday at A-B Center. Vianney blasted Jackson 8-0 in their sectional match while CBC built a 4-0 lead before settling for a 4-2 victory.
McCluer North will play SLUH in the quarterfinals Saturday at 3 p.m. The Stars are the only team from last years Final 4 with a chance to return this year. They got there when Evan Johnson, a sophomore, scored three goals to lead North to a 6-2 win over Francis Howell. The goals were his first of the season. The Junior Billikens scored once in each half, knocking off the Knights in the final Class 3 sectional of the evening. SLUH (19-6-1) took the lead with just under 17 minutes to play in the opening half as Joe Bettger scored on a 20-yarder after a pass from Dominic Hewitt. Howell North keeper Austin Haywood appeared to be partially screened on the play.

Way to go Lee’s Summit North! My alma mater has fallin short so often to the Rock. So good to see them prevail! Keep working Broncos!
Ole, thanks you so much for all the work you put into this! There is no other website like this. You cover the Springfield area better than anyone else! Thanks!
