MIAA Soccer: Southwest Baptist Closes With Win On Senior Day

Northwest MO State Bearcats – 1
After a scoreless first half, the hosts scored a pair of goals in the 51st and 58th minutes, the second a penalty kick following a foul in the box. With the Senior Day crowd urging them on, Southwest Baptist continued to push forward but it was the visitors who found the final effort needed to avoid the shutout in their final game of the season.
Senior goalkeeper Kira Lazenby brought the Green & White within one when she buried a direct kick from the far left side into the upper 90, moving far up into the offensive zone for the opportunity. Northwest almost tied it when jr Heidi Sobota’s shot was just wide in the final 30 seconds.
The Southwest Baptist Bearcats finish their season 7 – 9 – 3, 5 – 9 – 2 in the MIAA conference. Photo set They bid farewell to 7 seniors, including Ashley Wilson from Neosho.
The Northwest MO Bearcats finish their season 11-8-1, 7-8-1 in the MIAA Conference. Photo set. They have 8 seniors who completed their college careers, including Shannon Fitzgerald from Springfield Catholic.
