#3 Bellarmine Knights – 1
Third-seeded Bellarmine made a first-half goal stand up for a 1-0 victory over sixth-seeded Drury in the opening round of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Soccer Tournament here on Sunday.

The Knights, in beating Drury for a second time by a 1-0 score this season, improved to 13-2-1 on the season and moved into next weekend’s GLVC Tourney semifinals. Drury likely finished the season at 13-6 after being ranked seventh in the most recent NCAA-II Midwest Region rankings, where the top six teams qualify for the NCAA-II Tournament.

Drury (13-5-0) and Bellarmine (12-2-1) squared off on Oct. 11 in Louisville, with the Knights coming away with a 1-0 victory on a goal by sophomore Lauren Triplett in the 77th minute of the match. Opportunities were limited, as Drury was outshot 7-6, with both teams managing just three shots on goal each.

For Drury, the stakes are extremely high as well in its chase for a second NCAA-II Tournament trip in three years. The Panthers are No. 7 in this week’s NCAA-II Midwest Region rankings, with the top six advancing to the NCAA meet at the conclusion of the GLVC Tournament. Bellarmine is fifth in this week’s rankings.

The Louisville Courier-Journal looks at the Knights season, which started with a preseason ranking of 7th in the Conference.
