Drury Panthers – 4
Northeastern State Riverhawks – 0
Nationally fourth-ranked Drury closed out its regular season with a 4-0 non-conference victory over Northeastern State to cap Senior Day festivities Friday at Harrison Stadium. Senior Steve Wilczewski scored two goals and senior Andrew Bordelon added another as the Panthers moved to 17-1-0 on the season. Northeastern State fell to 8-7.

Drury used the match as a tuneup for Sunday’s opening round of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament, where the top-seeded Panthers will play host to No. 8 seed Missouri-St. Louis in a 1 p.m. match at Harrison.

Wilczewski got the Panthers on the board first with his goal with 19 minutes left in the first half off junior Micah Whorton’s team-leading 12th assist of the season, for a 1-0 DU lead that would stand through halftime.

The Panthers then put it out of reach with goals from Wilczewski (video above) – his team-leading 14th of the season and 32nd of his career, moving him into a tie for second all-time on the DU scoring charts – as well as Bordelon’s ninth of the season and the second of the year from junior David Emnett to win going away.

Sophomore keeper Stephen Conner registered his school-record 11th shutout of the season and the 12th of the season by the Panthers, also a team record.

Prior to the contest, Drury recognized seniors Wilczewski, Bordelon, Ben Nabers and Jake Allison for their outstanding careers, including their roles in producing the most successful season in DU soccer history.

The Riverhawks are a D2 program that is part of the South Central region, where they are ranked 5th behind West Texas A&M, Midwestern State and Truman State. They travel next week to play at Midwestern St and Oral Roberts, finishing with Eastern New Mexico and West Texas A&M at home next weekend in their pursuit of an NCAA berth. dubaiescorts me

The morning opened with the only upset of the day, as the Blue Jays took advantage of a depleted Cub’s squad.

Game report from the Blue Jay’s website, along with photos.

MHS Cubs Fall To Marshfield In District Soccer

Playing without their top three scorers, the Monett Cubs soccer team was defeated 3-0 by the Marshfield Bluejays in the first round of the Class 2A District 5 tournament at Marshfield on Saturday morning. Monett finished the season with a 10-8 record.

“We played hard but we were short-handed on offense,” said Monett Coach Jeremy Wilson. “One player was absent due to a family obligation. Another was suspended for disciplinary reasons and a third was academically ineligible. “It’s tough to compete in this situation,” said Wilson. “We were asking kids to do things they were not used to doing.”

#1 Bolivar Liberators – 3 (PKs)
#8 West Plains Zizzers – 2
What a game this was. I really can’t do justice to the ebb and flow, as the Liberators took a 2-0 lead on goals in the 22nd and 45th minute from Bradley Stillwagon, only to see the Zizzer’s battle back with a pair of goals in the 49th and 50th minutes. The first was direct from a corner kick by Justyn Biggers (see it below) and the second by senior Klay Norman, who led by example in the game, when he received a pass in close quarters in the Liberator’s end, held off two defenders before turning 180 degrees to get into the box and put his shot to the far post past a diving keeper.

Friday’s play-in game:
#8 West Plains Zizzers – 5
#9 Aurora Houn’Dawgs – 0
Goals – 5th minute Brodie Bender (Cory Parks), 32nd minute – Klay Norman on Free Kick, 47th minute- Jack Parrish rebound off a Justin Biggers Corner Kick, 65th minute – Devon Scott (Cory Parks), 73rd minute – Klay Norman (Cory Parks)

Here’s the seeding for the tournament. I anticipate being onsite for the majority of the day. I apologize in advance to the Cub’s and Blue Jays since that’s the game I’ll least likely see, too early for me.

1 Bolivar(17-3)
2 Cassville (12-3)
3 Monett (9-7)
4 Webb City (11-11)
5 Carl Junction (9-10)
6 Marshfield (7-12)
7 Logan-Rogersville (5-15)
8 West Plains (2-19)
9 Aurora (1-16)dubai escort incall

Drury Panthers, Jessie Sanderson
Drury University placed three players – sophomore forward Nicole Williams, junior defender Sarah Colvin-Fritz and junior keeper Jessie Sanderson (Jefferson City 2007) – on the First Team as the All-Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Soccer squads were announced by the league on Thursday.

Williams leads the Panthers (13-5-0) with 11 goals and has 21 in her first two seasons at Drury. Colvin-Fritz, who switched positions from mid-field this season, and Sanderson help solidify one of the league’s top defensive units for the Panthers, who visit Bellarmine on Sunday (1 p.m.) in the first round of the GLVC Tournament. Sanderson, who is tied for the league lead in shutouts with nine, is on the All-GLVC units for the third time in three years after earning Third Team recognition as a sophomore and First Team status – in addition to being named the GLVC Freshman and Defensive Player of the Year – her initial season at Drury.

In addition, coach Alf Bilbao’s Panthers also placed senior midfielder Sarah Goodman on the Second Team and freshman forward Katie Pritchard (Waynesville 2008) and senior defender Bailey Randol on the All-GLVC Third Team.
