Southwest Baptist Bearcats - 2
The soccer Bearcats extended their unbeaten streak to two, after a 2-2 tie against the Washburn Lady Blues. SBU struck first in just the fourth minute, after a penalty kick call gave Kelly Isaac the opportunity to take the first penalty kick of the season for the ‘Cats, which she promptly struck into the back of the net. Freshman forward Taylor Vick extended the SBU lead to 2-0, after her header got by the keeper, while Isaac picked up an assist.
SBU dictated the tempo for the most part in the first half, outshooting the Lady Blues, 9-2, while gaining a 5-0 edge on corner kicks against Washburn. Things turned south quickly for the Bearcats shortly after halftime, as Washburn’s Ashley Taylor scored two goals off of headers, within one minute of each other, and just like that, the game was tied up with 40 minutes still to play.
