Riley Mahn scored the match’s first goal in the 54th minute of the second half to lead the Truman Bulldogs to a 2-0 win over the Missouri Southern Lions Friday afternoon (Oct. 23) at Fred G. Hughes Stadium. Mahn’s score came on an assist from Katie Reuck off a keeper deflection at the 54:42 mark of the second half.
Jaclyn Schumann helped seal the Bulldogs 10th straight victory by scoring on a pass from Beth Bystrom off a corner kick to the middle of the box in the 75th minute of action.
With the win, Truman picked up a season sweep of Missouri Southern, who fell to 4-12 overall (2-10 MIAA). The Bulldogs, ranked fifth in the region according to the latest NCAA South Central poll, also maintained a two-point advantage on Nebraska-Omaha with four matches to play in the race for the conference championship. Both teams will spend the majority of the rest of the regular season on the bus, as each squad wraps up the season with three road matches of their final four.
Games on Saturday October 24th include Nebraska-Omaha visiting Northwest Mo. St. at 11:30 am, Washburn at Southwest Baptist beginning at 12:00 pm and Emporia State at Warrensburg, playing Central Missouri at 1:00 pm.
