Missouri Valley Conference Soccer Update

With just three weeks remaining in the regular-season, Creighton sits atop the MVC table with 11 points (through seven matches), followed closely by Missouri State (five matches) and Evansville (six matches), with 10 points apiece. Drake has tallied nine points through just four matches, while Eastern Illinois is on the board with six points through five matches.
Evansville’s dynamic attack ranks the Purple Aces 14th in the nation in scoring offense (2.0), while Creighton’s stingy defense holds the nation’s 12th-best team goals against average (0.6). Missouri State continues to serve as this season’s giant killer, knocking off No. 19 Drake, 2-1, last Saturday, after spoiling then-No. 6 Creighton (1-0) on Sept. 19. Eastern Illinois tallied its first victory over Bradley since 2000, turning in a 1-0 decision over the Braves on Sunday.
This week, two Valley teams will be featured on Friday night’s Fox Soccer Channel National Game of the Week, as Drake visits Evansville at McCutchan Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 PM, marking the first event of any kind televised nationally from the UE campus.
Other League matches on tap this week include Creighton visiting Bradley (Oct. 21) and Eastern Illinois (Oct. 24), Missouri State visiting Evansville (Oct. 21), Eastern Illinois at Drake (Oct. 21) and Bradley at Missouri State (Oct. 24).
