Junior Ben Taylor scored a pair of goals, one in each half, as the Panthers won the GLVC battle against the Hawks. Taylor scored his first goal at the 29:40 mark in the opening half, then gave the Panthers some breathing room when he tallied his fifth goal of the season via a direct kick from 25 yards with just over 20 minutes left in the match (the picture is the direct kick goal)
Junior keeper Stephen Conner notched his fifth consecutive shutout in goal for the Panthers, who have not outscored their six opponents 24-2. Conner had two saves in the game as Drury outshot the Hawks 18-6. Drury ended four years of frustration against the Hawks, whom the Panthers were 0-2-2 against since joining the league in 2005. The Panthers improved to 6-0 overall and share the lead in the GLVC at 3-0. Quincy fell to 2-3 and 1-1.
The Panthers return to action on Friday, visiting Rockhurst in a 7:30 p.m. GLVC match in Kansas City. It’s a rematch of their GLVC Tournament semifinal last season, when the Hawks edged the Panthers 5-4 on penalty kicks to eventually go on to win the league title.
Drury Lady Panthers – 4

Drury scored twice late in the first half and went on to defeat Quincy 4-0 in Great Lakes Valley Conference women’s soccer action Sunday afternoon at Harrison Stadium. Sophomore Nicole Williams scored a pair of goals – giving her seven on the season and 17 in her brief DU career – as the Panthers moved to 5-1 overall and 3-0 in the GLVC with their fifth straight victory.
Hillary Cockrell added a goal and an assist and Katie Pritchard notched her fourth goal of the season for Drury, which made the most of its 10 shots and just six on goal. Drury struck first on Cockrell’s penalty-kick goal with13 minutes left in the half, then made it 2-0 when Williams scored with three minutes left before the break. Williams scored an unassisted goal with 36 minutes left in game, and Pritchard closed the scoring with a header off a Cockrell pass just four minutes later.
Quincy, which defeated then-No. 7 Truman State earlier this season – the team that handed Drury its only loss in ’09 – fell to 3-3 overall and 1-1 in the league. Panthers’ junior goalkeeper Jessie Sanderson picked up her fourth shutout of the season and 24th of her career while registering two saves in the contest.
Drury returns to GLVC action at Rockhurst on Friday, with a 5 p.m. start in Kansas City.
Missouri State Bears – 5
Oral Roberts Golden Hurricane - 0
Senior Jenna Dobkins led off the scoring as she drilled a high ball that hit the underside of the crossbar and deflected down off of ORU keeper Amanda Wheeler to give the Bears the 1-0 lead. Megan Jaskowiak would find the back of the net six minutes later. In the 24th minute, freshmen Becky Handley would record her first goal of the season, a header into the lower right corner off of a center pass from Hulcer. Sophomore Kelsey Finders added to the Bears lead in the 53rd minute. Jordan Reppell took a free kick from about 25 yards out. A quick touch by Megan Jaskowiak in the box and Finders buried the ball in the net for the 4-0 lead. Aguilar capped the Bears scoring with a goal of her own in the 75th minute of play. Fellow senior Jessica Smits hit a perfect corner kick into the box, finding Aguilar for the 5-0 lead. Missouri State goalkeeper Jessica Teahan (pictured) recorded eight saves for her third shutout of the season.
Missouri State returns to Plaster Field for its next match against UMKC (0-6-0) on Wednesday, September 16 with a 5:30 p.m. kickoff.

The game finished after regulation and two OT periods without a goal by either squad. The MSU Bears outshot the UCA Bears 20-13 and had 8 corner kicks versus 3 but were unable to get the ball over the end line.
Missouri S&T Lady Miners – 3
Illinois Springfield – 0
The Missouri S&T Lady Miners dominated from start to finish in its 3-0 win over Illinois-Springfield on Sunday afternoon in Rolla. The Lady Miners outshot the Prairie Stars by a 33-1 margin including 20-0 in shots on goal.

The last time Missouri S&T and Illinois-Springfield met, the Miners dominated the stat sheet outshooting the Prairie Stars 26-9, but came up on the short end losing 3-1. S&T made sure it wouldn’t suffer the same fate the second time around defeating Illinois-Springfield 2-0 on Sunday avenging last season’s loss in the process.
