Thanks to all of you that have invited me to participate in your EPL Fantasy League. Without cable, I have to rely on other’s opinions and the occasional game at a friends house to keep up with the action, that’s the reason I haven’t joined in. For the rest of you that aren’t as involved but still are interested in keeping up, here’s a series of previews by Ollie Irish, who writes for Big Soccer. He covers the Big 4 and offers his opinions, so check it out.

US Soccer And EA Sports Offer Interactive Training Tool For Youth
Press release – U.S. Soccer and EA SPORTS have teamed up to introduce EA SPORTS Interactive Training, a free, online tutorial that uses EA SPORTS technology to help train the soccer stars of the future. This interactive resource, available at www.EASPORTSinteractivetraining.com employs the EA SPORTS soccer game engine to illustrate U.S. Soccer’s coaching book “Best Practices for Coaching Soccer in the United States” which serves as the sport’s definitive player development guidelines. John Hackworth, U.S. Soccer Development Academy Technical Director and U.S. Men’s National Team Assistant Coach introduces each video segment with expert coaching advice for players ages 8-12 and their coaches to help them improve real-world technique.
The U.S. Soccer “Best Practices for Coaching Soccer in the United States” manual is an invaluable training guide created by U.S. Soccer’s Coaching Education Department to give youth and junior level soccer coaches in the United States a set of fundamental tools to help open up the game of soccer to young players in ways that celebrate the sport’s spontaneous qualities. The Best Practices Manual is available for free download at ussoccer.com. EA SPORTS uses sophisticated physics and its animation engine to bring the resource to life by helping players and coaches visualize the professional benefits of drills and convert that to precision on the field.
Specific features of EA SPORTS Interactive Training include:
· Six videos focused on drills – Passing, Dribbling, Heading, Shooting, Receiving and Defending
· Three levels of complexity for each video module
· Expert instruction from John Hackworth, U.S. Soccer Development Academy Technical Director and U.S. Men’s National Team Assistant Coach
Given the insatiable appetite EA SPORTS is seeing for digital content among youth demographics globally, this online resource is likely to resonate with young players and help U.S. Soccer in its mission to help continue the development of soccer at all recreational and competitive levels. Since last June, more than 500 million online game sessions of EA SPORTS games have been played, and more than 2 million game highlight videos have been uploaded to EA SPORTS websites.
To experience EA SPORTS Interactive Training, log on to www.EASPORTSinteractivetraining.com.
EA SPORTS is an official and exclusive interactive entertainment licensee of U.S. Soccer. EA SPORTS Interactive Training is just one of many partnership initiatives between EA SPORTS and U.S. Soccer which deliver cutting edge media to soccer fans across the U.S.

Pulaski United FC Ready To Compete
The Waynesville Daily Guide got out to visit with the newest club soccer program in Southwest Missouri. Pulaski United FC recently held tryouts and have established their Fall goals.
“To have 120 try out, we’d call that a success,” said PUFC vice-president David Lowe. “It’s a milestone, especially since we just officially started the club in January.”
The club has enough players now for three boys teams (U10, U12 and U14) and two girls teams (U14 and U16) in the fall season.
Lowe says that four of the teams will compete in the Lake Country Soccer League in Springfield. The girls U16 squad will play in the Central Missouri Soccer League in Jefferson City.
More information on the club can be found on their website.

Missouri S&T Miners Preseason Prospectus
The Rolla Daily News visited with Missouri State’s opponent tonight, the Missouri S&T Miners, who compete in the Great Lakes Valley Conference against the Drury Panthers.
After a one-year hiatus, Missouri S&T’s men’s soccer team made it back into the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament last season. The Miners found a way into the tournament by getting a win or tie in eight of their 12 conference games – winning three of the games by a goal – but fell 1-0 in the opening round to eventual national semifinalist Northern Kentucky when the Norse scored late in the contest.
The Miner’s feature 3 area boys, all of whom played for Springfield SC. Zack Hay (Kickapoo 2008) earned a starting role last year as a freshman at outside back. He’s joined this year by Mason Morawitz (Columbia Hickman) and Caleb Collier (Kickapoo) who were part of the two-time State Champions SSC squad. Caleb’s older brother Adam Peterson is a member of the Drury Panthers, that should be a good game.
Missouri State Bears Ranked 4th In MVC Poll, Host Missouri S&T Tonight
The Missouri State Bears were picked to finish fourth behind Creighton, Drake and Evansville. Creighton received four first-place votes in the poll, while the Bears and Drake each received one. Bradley and Eastern Illinois round out the poll.
The MVC also announced the preseason All-MVC team today. Junior goalkeeper Alex Riggs was the lone selection from the Bears squad. Riggs played every minute last season and was an All-MVC first team selection. He was also named to the MVC All-Tournament team in 2008. Riggs recorded six shutouts and was named defensive player of the week in consecutive weeks during October.
The Bears were 7-10-5 last season, going 3-1-1 in conference play. Missouri State advanced to the finals of the State Farm MVC Tournament in 2008 before falling to Creighton, 1-0.
“It’s always an honor to have one of your players recognized among the elite in this conference,” stated head coach Jon Leamy. “It is a well-deserved honor for Alex and I am looking forward to him raising the bar this season.”
The men’s soccer team opens exhibition play today against Missouri S&T. Kickoff at Plaster Sports Complex is at 6 p.m. The Bears’ regular season opener is September 1 at the University of Tulsa.

Marshfield Missouri Fall Youth Soccer Registration Under Way
The 2009 Fall Youth Soccer Registration will be held Monday (August 17) from 3:00 to 6:30 p.m. at Marshfield City Hall (798 S. Marshall St.).
If you cannot attend registration, we will accept registrations during business hours next week starting on Tuesday; we are open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. However, we strongly encourage you to attend on Monday – this will help us in faster preparation of teams.
Please note that this is a RECREATIONAL league – no experience necessary!
COSTS & REGISTRATION PROCEDURE: Cost is $30.00 per child ($35.00 if you live outside the city limits); unfortunately, we do not offer multi-child discounts. A team shirt is included with your registration. The only other items your child will need to participate are shin guards (available locally at The Sports Shop and Wal-Mart), a soccer ball, and a good pair of running shoes (cleats may also be worn). We do NOT require children to have a physical before participating; you do not need to bring your child to the registration, and we do not require a birth certificate.
LEAGUE INFORMATION: Children ages 2-15 (must be born on July 1, 1994 or later) are welcome to participate. We welcome ALL area children. Children that played in the Spring league will be placed on the same team in the Fall.
GAMES & PRACTICES: We will play a six week, seven game season, with play starting on September 12. Games are held on Saturday mornings at Rotary Park (next to City Hall); practices are held one time per team per week (5:30 p.m. or later on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday of Friday; coaches determine practice days and times).
Coaches are always needed! If you decide to coach, your child will be placed on your team.
AGE GROUPS: A child may move up to the next league if he/she is within one year of that age group. Children cannot be moved down to a younger age group. Siblings will be placed on the same team if they play in the same league.
Age groups are as follows:
· League 1: Born July 1, 2003, and later.
· League 2: Born between July 1, 2001, and June 30, 2003.
· League 3: Born between July 1, 1998, and June 30, 2001.
· League 4: Born between July 1, 1994, and June 30, 1998.
