This Week In Ozarks Soccer

I don’t know about you but I’m not quite ready for the season to start. I’ll survive however and looking over the calendars that I’ve got, there are some nice derby’s already lined up for the first week of play.

Tuesday kicks off the season (other than Waynesville’s early win over Sullivan Friday) with a pair of quality challenges. Greenwood hosts New Covenant Academy at Cooper with a 4:30 pm start time while Branson comes North to face COC foe Logan-Rogersville, also at 4:30 pm. Both games are Varsity-first it appears so get out early. I anticipate being at the Greenwood match, having missed this derby last year for the trip to Branson.

Thursday offers another early challenge as Ozark visits Glendale. I’ve heard some good things about Ozark’s squad while Big O Sports took a look at Glendale and Kickapoo in their most recent issue (pages 30-31). There’s a double-header of sorts at Cooper as Central hosts KC East and Greenwood takes on Bolivar, a team certain to have a chip on its shoulder as the boys attempt to match the girls deep run this past Spring.

Friday brings the Jeff City Jays to town on their annual pilgrimage. They’ll take on Parkview at 5:00 pm before moving further South to face Kickapoo on Saturday (11 am JV, 1 pm Varsity). Kickapoo will host Nixa on Friday as well.

There will be some college ball as well. The Drury Panthers are home this weekend, with games on Friday and Saturday. Due to Friday night football at Harrison Stadium, the Panther’s will host Harding in a pair of games at Cooper #1. The women play at 5pm and the men at 7:30 pm. Sunday is a big game, as #7 ranked Lewis comes to town. The women play at 12 pm and the men at 2:30 pm. These games will be back at Harrison, and we’ll find out very early whether the Panther’s can be contenders.

The Missouri State Bears are at Tulsa tomorrow but return Saturday to host UMKC. The game time at Plaster is 4:00 pm due to the lights situation. The women travel to Arkansas-Little Rock for a game on Friday, coming off of this weekend’s split at Arkansas.

Regarding schedules, here are the schools I currently have schedules for: Aurora, Bolivar,Branson, Cassville, Glendale, Greenwood, Hillcrest, Kickapoo, Lebanon, Logan-Rogersville, Marshfield, Monett, New Covenant Academy, Nixa, Ozark, Parkview, Springfield Catholic, Springfield Central, Willard

If your school is NOT on this list, feel free to forward your’s to me. PLEASE send it as a spreadsheet, I can’t really afford to spend a bunch of time typing schedules into my calendar these days so if you want me to be aware of and cover your team, that is what I need.
