US MNT Faces Honduras Tonight In Gold Cup 2009

July 8, 2009 by Ole · 1 Comment

Gold Cup 2009 logo_enWith a 4-0 win against Grenada in the books, the U.S. Men’s National Team continues its quest for a third-consecutive CONCACAF Gold Cup championship when it takes on Honduras on Wednesday, July 8, at 8 pm at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C., live on Fox Soccer Channel. Four 2008 Olympians scored for the U.S. in the Independence Day opener with Freddy Adu, Stuart Holden, Robbie Rogers and Charlie Davies all finding the back of the net.

Currently the Group B leaders with one win and a plus-four goal differential, the U.S. closes out the group against Haiti on July 11 at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass., with kickoff slated for 7 p.m. ET.

Plenty of background on the games available on the US Soccer website while Soccer By Ives offers a look back at the World Cup qualifier played September 1st 2001 between these two teams in DC. As he notes, it’s the day Honduras took over RFK.

Should be a good game tonight. Join me at the Fox & Hound if you’d like to enjoy the game with me and other US fans!
