PDL Soccer: Springfield Demize Shut Out Rochester Thunder

Springfield Demize – 1
Rochester Thunder – 0

The Demize held off some early challenges by the visitors this evening and then came out in the 2nd half and won their 2nd straight game, both at home. The game winner came as a pair of Drury Panther teammates combined to create and finish the opportunity. Attacking midfielder Andrew Bordelon sent forward Micah Whorton in alone with a creative ball into space that Micah ran onto near the top right hand side of the box. His shot to the far post eluded the goalkeepers attempt and then it was 20 minutes of defense.

The Thunder fall to ?-? as they head to KC for a game against the Brass. Springfield is now 2-6 and host the St Louis Lions next Thursday. They’ll be looking to avenge an early season 0-6 loss in much the same fashion as their reversal of results with KC, going from an 0-5 loss to a 2-0 win.

Photos on Sunday.

I’m going to try and get out to the two late games so look for photos. An observation – of these six teams, only one was ranked/seeded coming into the tournament. What do you think, could that be an indication that there is a reason we play the games, and the MYSA policies that have decreased participation by more than 1/2 is a failure?

PDL Soccer: Springfield Demize Shut Out KC Brass

PDL Soccer: Springfield Demize shut out KC Brass
KC Brass – 0
Springfield Demize – 2
On the strength of a pair of goals scored in the 4th and 46th minutes this evening the Demize shrugged off their early season difficulties and earned their first victory of the season. The first goal was scored by Luis Martins when Micah Whorton’s (pictured above) simple square ball inside the box allowed him to turn and get off a shot as two defenders closed. The second goal was scored by Whorton when he was on the receiving end of a cross from the right side.

KOLR10 was out and Eric should have the first goal for tonights sports. I’ll have photos tomorrow.
