The Kansas City Wizards will bring Major League Soccer action to St. Louis, MO….at least for one day when they host FC Atlas, from the Federación Mexicana de Fútbol Primera Division, in the 3rd edition of SuperLiga™. The game will be held at Robert R. Hermann Stadium on the campus at St. Louis University on Sunday, June 21st at 3:30pm.
SuperLiga, a competition that brings the USA-Mexico soccer rivalry to the club level, pits four MLS clubs and four clubs from the Federación Mexicana de Fútbol Primera Division, against one another. Kansas City has history with both of its opening-round opponents from Mexico’s top flight, Club Santos Laguna and FC Atlas. The Wizards will host Santos Laguna on Sunday, June 28 game at CommunityAmerica Ballpark in Kansas City, Kansas.
The United States National Team is 9-0-2 versus their southern neighbors at home since 1999 with a 19-3 goals-scored advantage. This new found success by the U.S. has pushed the USA-Mexico soccer rivalry to its highest level in series history. Hopefully, we will be as successful against these Mexican clubs as the USA has been against the Mexico National Team over the last decade.”
The Wizards’ game in St. Louis will give fans the opportunity to see former SLU Billiken Jack Jewsbury in action at Hermann Stadium for the first time since his senior season at St. Louis University in 2002. Jewsbury is 10th on the Billikens’ all-time scoring list with 101 career points (38 goals and 25 assists). He was named the 2002 Conference USA Player of the Year as a senior. A native of Springfield, MO, Jewsbury played youth soccer for the powerful Busch Soccer Club, now called St. Louis Scott Gallagher in a recent merger of the clubs. Jewsbury is in his 7th MLS season and has been one of the most consistent players for the Wizards as a midfielder/defender. He tallied 3 goals and 7 assists in 2008 and has already registered 4 assists this season.

Packages are also available that include one (1) ticket to the SuperLiga match in St. Louis and a voucher for one (1) ticket to a later Wizards match at CommunityAmerica Ballpark starting at $30. The voucher can be redeemed for a ticket Sunday, June 28 against Santos Laguna in the final SuperLiga group match or for the following Saturday-night MLS games at CommunityAmerica Ballpark: Jul. 4 vs. Houston Dynamo, Aug. 29 vs. Real Salt Lake, Sep. 19 vs. FC Dallas, Sep. 26 vs. Colorado Rapids, Oct. 17 vs. Seattle Sounders FC or Oct. 24 vs. D.C. United.
