Five minutes into the 1st OT the Jays were able to get numbers into the box, resulting in Shaylyn Boyle’s shot from just inside the box.

“Both of the teams we played featured the same talent level,” said coach Chris Rogers of Carthage. “We put together a good run toward the end of the second game against Central.”

Jamileth Henriquez scored the Lady Tigers’ lone goal of the day with 10 minutes left in regulation against Central.

In the district tournament championship game last season the St. James and Laquey squads battled to a near-standoff. The game was tied after regulation and, after two overtimes, the contest was still tied and went into shootouts. Finally, St. James edged Laquey in the shootout to capture its second consecutive district title.
