KY3 Adds Soccer

Or more specifically, they are adding a soccer player to their staff. KY3 doesn’t get much love from this site for their lack of attention to the beautiful game – I blame Ned Reynolds. It’s that much more painful to note that two of their anchors are former players and are now expecting a baby, thus the addition.

SPRINGFIELD — Many of you know KY3′s Sara Sheffield and Ethan Forhetz married each other in April 2007.. Now they’re announcing an addition to the family. The “bundle of joy” will be their first child.

“We’re really excited! It’s a true blessing” said Sara, with a big smile on her face. “We’re looking forward to a little soccer player running around,” said Ethan (he and Sara both were longtime soccer players).

Ethan grew up in Collinsville, future home to the St Louis MLS team we hope, and played soccer for the Cahoks, something I confirmed with a former teammate of his who is now the HS Coach. Sara is a graduate of Oklahoma State but I’ve been unable to confirm if she played college ball or high school ball, despite efforts in the past to reach out. Regardless, they’re talking soccer now and that’s what counts!

  1. Ethan Forhetz says:

Hi, Ethan Forhetz here. Thanks for the mention.. we’re thrilled about eventually getting a little one on the pitch! I was sent a link to your post and wanted to fill in the blanks for you. Sara and I both played college soccer. Sara played at Oklahoma State University and I played at McKendree University in Lebanon, IL. Sara played high school ball at Fort Gibson HS in OK. You’re right, I played at Collinsville HS.. home of the KAHOKS. She was a striker and I was a stopper. Unfortunately, we don’t play as much as we used to.. though we’re planning to get back into it after the baby.

We’re sorry about a lack of soccer coverage on KY3. If Sara and I were in charge of sports, we’d do a daily update! We’ll put a bug in Ned’s ear. Keep up your good work.. we’ll make this site a regular stop as we navigate the web. We must have missed your efforts to reach out in the past but we’re happy to talk soccer anytime!

  2. YEEEEEHAAAAWWWWWW! Time and patience and you just might get a little soccer lovin’! You Forhetz’s get on Ned! Give us some soccer love. When things get settled after the birth, we’ll get you both on teams here at Lake Country. We’ve already got Kyle Bosch from KSPR out here playing indoors and outdoors! Dave Snider is coaching his kid’s team here! The more personalities we have here, the merrier!
