Catching Up With Jack Jewsbury, KC Wizards Midfielder And Springfield Native

Hello All–

Well, for the next month or so I am going to set my soccer skills aside and attempt (attempt being the key word here) a career as a journalist. I will be posting a weekly article for SGFsoccer.com. It should be an interesting journey and I just hope I can make Mrs. Thater, my high school English teacher, proud. The articles will cover different soccer topics, mainly regarding the KC Wizards and my personal soccer career.

Before I go any further, I presume it would be politically correct of me to congratulate the Glendale Falcons on their 2nd place finish at the Missouri State Championships. For the record, I feel like Kickapoo played a small part of their success as I trained many of the boys on the Glendale team over the past few off-seasons. I am sure everyone can agree that this accomplishment was a “GROUP” effort.

On a more serious note, it has been pretty amazing over the past few years to see the development of soccer in the Springfield area, both on the high school and club level. Finally, others (St. Louis and Kansas City) are realizing they have some company at the top!

Before I let you all go, I want to let everyone know over the Christmas break I will be holding my first annual Jack Jewsbury Soccer Clinic from December 29th – 31st at Lake Country Soccer Dome for 9-14 year old boys and girls. I am very excited about the opportunity to come back into town and continue the growth of youth soccer in the Springfield area. It is an honor to be home and share the things that I feel are instrumental in taking a players’ game to the next level.

My clinic, with the help of former Drury College player Buddy Coulter, will focus on the key aspects to the game and will even utilize several drills that the KC Wizards coaches implement throughout the year. In addition to this specialized training, each player will receive a free PUMA soccer ball, a free PUMA Jack Jewsbury clinic t-shirt, and an off-season fitness packet. Details on the clinic can be found by clicking on the graphic below – make sure to sign-up as space is limited to ONLY 32 boys and 32 girls!
