Chicago Fire Battle For MLS Soccer Eastern Conference Title Tonight

I hope you all have this one on your radar screen, at least those of you who aren’t already enroute to Harrisonville (go Liberators!) or Lebanon (go Irish!) for the Class 2 and Class 1 Quarterfinal games.

I’ve been invited by my niece to enjoy a salmon dinner tonight so I’m taking in some home-cooking for a change, followed by the MLS Conference game at 6:30 pm on ESPN2. I’ll post HS game reports as they come in.

As to the Fire game, they take on the Columbus Crew. Both games played this year ended in 2-2 draws so this is definitely the rubber match. Luis Arroyave’s quick look: The Fire can advance to its first MLS Cup final since 2003 with a victory in the Eastern Conference final. The Crew lost only two of its 15 home games during the regular season. If you’re a Fire fan like I am, check out the Game Day blog
