Catholic’s defense, including Conner Dahlberg, Nick Kofron and Josh Moncada challenge Greenwood’s Matt Cook enroute to the shutout win Thursday

Springfield Catholic - 2
Greenwood Blue Jays - 0
Justin Bowenschulte , taking advantage of an early foul, scored what turned out to be the ultimate game-winner in the 5th minute tonight. A direct kick, from just outside the box, found the back of the net.

The game was a back-and-forth affair, with opportunities on both sides. Johnston cleared one off the line

KOLR10 offers a video report including Bowenschulte’s direct kick goal (despite Dan Lucy’s description of it as a penalty kick). KSPR33 has video of Luke Straus’ goal in the second half as well as a short chat with Coach Joe Kofron.

The Irish will play in the Class 1 Quarterfinal next Thursday at 6:00 pm in Lebanon.

The Liberators took a 1-0 lead in the 23rd minute on a goal by Bradley Stillwagon, who settled a corner kick by Matt Magana off his chest to his feet for the shot which found the back of the net. Uziel Franco evened the score in the 41st. Magana scored the game-winning goal when he collected Seth Hopwood cross, after a fine overlapping run, and buried it in the 55th minute.

The Liberators will travel to Harrisonville to play a Class 2 quarterfinal contest at 6:30 p.m. Thursday against Pembroke Hill.

I wish you had more on the Camdenton, Rolla game. After 110 minutes of play and 2 rounds of pk’s, it deserved more than just a score.
