Ben Nabers scored from 30 yards out off an assist from sophomore Ben Taylor, his school-record and nation-leading 13th of the season in the 25th. Junior Steve Wilczewski (Glendale 2006) scored his team-leading 13th goal of the season on a header, and off a Peter Higgins assist, just 1:16 before halftime.
Brian Fishback (Parkview 2005) scores in the 66th (pictured) to get the Greyhounds within one again. Indy maintains control in the offensive end, sending a high ball into the box. Drury’s GK knocks it down and Fish is waiting on the far side of the 6 yard box, burying it into the open net.
Drury (13-5-1) will face Sunday’s winner between top-seeded Rockhurst and eighth-seeded Wisconsin-Parkside in the tourney semi-finals next Friday. The Final 4 will be held at the site of the highest remaining seed after the first round is completed Sunday.
Missouri State Bears – 1 (OT)
Eastern Illinois Panthers – 0
Nick Dryden (West Plains 2006) ends the suspense in the 7th minute of the first overtime period, redirecting a corner kick from Gerard Barbero just inside the right post for the game winning goal (pictured). The goal was Dryden’s first of the season and Barbero’s second assist. The Bears finished regular season conference play with a 3-1-1 record and could finish anywhere from 1st to 3rd.
The Bears will be in action again on Thursday (Oct. 9) at Plaster Field when they take on Tulsa in their final regular season game at 7 p.m.
Missouri Southern Lions – 2 (OT)
Northwest Missouri State Bearcats – 1
The Lady Lions’ get a pair of goals from their senior leader, Nikki Llewellyn in the MIAA Conference win. Llewellyn ties the game in the 89th minute after she missed on a penalty kick but stayed with the play and scored off the deflection. and gets the game-winner in the 104th minute from a corner kick. Randi Russell (Joplin 2008) gets the win in goal, while equaling her career-high with nine saves in goal. Lindsay Altman (Joplin 2008) started for the Lions, Brianna Ragains (Lebanon 2008) and Brianna McKenzie (Web City 2008) came on as substitutes. Samantha Knuckles (Catholic 2005) came on as a substitute for NWMSU.
