Springfield Catholic – 1
Willard Tigers – 0
Freshman Reid Harbach’s 25 yard laser, after a strong run down the left side from his defensive position, was the difference this evening. Both teams were moving the ball well but the defenses are ready for the playoffs.high class escorts chicago

Represent Springfield Soccer

College season is winding down fast as well, so let’s check in with a few folks:

The Mizzou Men’s Soccer Club has qualified for the National Tournament yet again, ensuring they’ll have the opportunity to defend their 2007 NIRSA Open Tournament Champions title. The boys played a 10 game schedule and finished 7-1-1 (the KU game was postponed due to weather) in the regular season. The beat Oklahoma State 2-0 in the Regional Final to reach Nationals which will be November 20-22 in Alabama. Jacob Basecke and Brian Lindsey, both Glendale 2005, are once again part of the squad. There’s a Facebook page for anyone with questions about tryouts and the team.

Maggie Schrier (Glendale 2008) is a forward! And she’s dishing out assists, with two in the Hendrix Warrior’s recent win over Central Baptist. The Warriors (D3, SCAC ) are now 6-7 and have a 2 game winning streak going and four games remaining.

Hendrix will be hosting Birmingham Southern Panthers on November 9th, which will bring Brice Hunt (West Plains 2008) close to home. The Panthers are having a tough year, with a 2-14 record. Brice has played in 15 of the 16 games and will be looking for some home cooking.

Coach Nick Schmitt did a recent update on Zizzer’s in college, including info on Cody Cody Townsend, Logan Ray, Jacob Plocher, Matt Saner, Stuart Ziegler, Clay Trautman and Kyle Martin.

Coester’s NJCAA Regional Soccer Report

The Barton County CC men’s soccer team started their quest for a trip to the National Tournament Tuesday afternoon with a 6-0 win over Cowley College in the quarterfinals of the region 6 tournament. Barton netted all six goals in the first half and coasted to the victory sitting almost every starter in the second half. Springfield Demize midfielder Oscar Narvaez added to his record setting assist season with his 12th and 13th on the year. This ranks Oscar in the top 20 nationally in assists. The shutout also accounted for Barton’s 14th of the year, led by Demize teammates GK Donovan Dowling, and defenders Ous Senghore and James Neighbour. Neighbour and Dowling were the only two Barton players to start in every game of the year. The Cougars maintained their #2 national ranking this week with a 19-0-1 record.

Last Wednesday, Dowling was honored as the National Junior College Athletic Association Division 1 goalkeeper of the week. This is only the second goalkeeper from Barton County to earn this honor. Dowling has 14 shutouts on the season and a goals against average of .310.

The road to nationals for Barton appears to be as difficult as anyone in the country. It will take three more wins to get there, one of which will be against #5 Jefferson College from Hillsboro, Mo, winner of the Region 16 tourney this past weekend, waiting as one of the participating teams in the district tournament for the 4th straight year. Also standing in their way will most likely be #7 Garden City CC for the regional championship.

First, Barton will participate in the region 6 semifinals Saturday at noon in Topeka, KS at the Hummer Sports Complex against Kansas City Kansas CC. With a win, they will advance to the final on Sunday at 1 pm at the same location. Barton defeated KCK just ten days ago by a count of 4-0.

Information about this weekends games and the region 6 tournament can be found at http://www.kjccc.org/soccer/socindex.html

Provided by NJCAA Special Correspondent Austin Dowling

And one final shout out to the Crowder College Roughriders and their first year program. The boys made it to the semifinals of the Region 16 tournament, only losing in PK’s. massage body to body
