Video highlights from the Panther’s win against Missouri S&T Friday
The Drury University men’s soccer Panthers are the No. 4 seed and will host No. 5 Indianapolis Saturday night in the first round of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament. Drury (11-5-1, 7-4-1 in GLVC play), making the eight-team GLVC post-season field for the first time in its four seasons as a member, will host the Greyhounds (6-6-4, 5-4-3 in the league), in a 6 p.m. game Saturday at Harrison Stadium. The Panthers lost 3-2 to Indy at Harrison on Sept. 28. The Greyhounds are led by captain Brian Fishback (Parkview 2005), the GLVC Scholar Athlete in 2007.
Other first-round men’s matches pit No. 8 Wisconsin-Parkside at No. 1 Rockhurst, No. 6 Missouri Science and Technology at No. 3 Northern Kentucky, and No. 7 Bellarmine at second-seed Lewis. The Miner’s include Brandon Moore (Rolla 2005) and Zack Hay (Kickapoo 2008) and they finished 4-4-4 in the GLVC in earning the berth (6-8-4 overall), returning to the playoffs after missing last year
The Panthers requested to move the GLVC tourney match with Indy to Saturday, as opposed to Sunday, so Panthers’ coach Alf Bilbao could also coach the DU women when they play at Rockhurst on Sunday (noon in Kansas City).
Drury University’s women’s soccer Panthers will have to begin defense of their Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament title on the road, as the No. 5 seed at No. 4 Rockhurst on Sunday. The Panthers (8-6-3 overall, 7-3-2 in the GLVC) will visit the Hawks (10-4-3, 7-2-3) for a noon start on Sunday in Kansas City. Drury defeated Rockhurst 1-0 there on Oct. 5.
Other first-round pairings find No. 8 Missouri-St. Louis visiting top-seeded Wisconsin-Parkside, No. 6 seed Indianapolis at No. 3 Quincy and No. 7 Bellarmine at No. 2 Northern Kentucky. The UMSL Tritons, with Ann Prenger (Catholic 2008), are participating in their 11th straight GLVC Tournament.
