Missouri State Bears – 0 (2 OT)
Creighton Blue Jays – 0
With the #2 ranked team in the nation displaying the qualities that earned them their lofty status, the Bears displayed a new level of discipline and focus in achieving the result this evening. While being outshot 21-6, and with a 1-13 disadvantage in corner kicks, the Bears hard work allowed them to create several chances including one that brought the entire bench onto the pitch in the 1st OT tonight. Starting three freshman (Heath Melugin, David Buckenheimer and Gerard Barbero) yet again, and with the central defensive tandem of Dryden and Hennessey now having several games together, it was a team effort as Coach Leamy went 8 deep on the bench.
The crowd was listed at 688 and the Grizzlie’s offering their special brand of music and support behind the Creighton bench, it was a fine evening at Plaster tonight. The Bears move to 1-1-1 in the MVC with games at Bradley and Eastern Illinois remaining.
The next home game is Saturday November 1st against Eastern Illinois. In addition, #11 Tulsa visits on Thursday November 6th. Add it to your calendar!
